Yep, I had the fall risk too! I will say I am glad I helicopters instead of pigeons :) It was a pain at night, but who can sleep with your head wound up so tight and a strap under your chin! Something to remember too..if you have to have glasses to read, make sure you tell the person wrapping your head. They can leave a little slack for them.
 
I agree! I had to put a C-Pap mask on every night. the nurses were in my room every night to help me put it on and there in the morning to take it off. Don't wont to pull off a lead!
 
i had a huge window in my room. no fall sign but that may have been b/c my bf was with me most of the time (only left to go for a walk or get food).
and lol huskymom i hear ya, my room was right beside the landing pad. sure made for 'entertainment' when it landed, gave us something to watch for awhile :)
 
Haha lots of good stories here! I spoke to the epilepsy nurse Christine, on the phone today and I instantly like her. I asked about a foldout bed for my mum and she's got it sorted. I do have a tv that I can hire and I can bring in a laptop. I asked about a foam underlay and she said "hey come on, we've just got cool new beds!" we agreed to leave the foam at home, at least for the first night ;) I think she will be a godsend!
 
Sounds like you're well-prepared, and the folks are nice. If you get bored let us know -- we'll have a pizza delivered to you, along with a singing telegram or a male stripper (your choice).

Wobblez, I'm doing okay, thanks for asking. I'm a tiny, tiny bit bummed -- with my 5-year seizure-free milestone almost in sight, I recently started to feel a little shaky, and I upped my Lamictal dose. I can't really complain, because I'm still seizure-free, but I was sorta hoping I could go in the other direction with my meds.

Wobblez - when is your admission date? I don't have one yet. In the next few months I'm told. You are very lucky to have the clinic nurse you do. Mine (the only one) has the "this is the millionth one I've done"attitude. Maybe she will charge by the time I get in. :) Anyway, I will be very interested in all you have to say!
 
yes i agree, very nice to have a great E nurse. i do too and just love her :)

and wobblez c'mon girl, i know a singing pizza would be good but a male stripper would take up a lot more of your time....... how 'bout just a reg. pizza and a hunk?

That's great you like your epilepsy nurse.
I also have a fantastic epilepsy nurse who has been a huge support to me for the last 2 1/2 years (ever since I started going through my pre surgery tests).

Will your Mum be staying with you the whole time you are in for your VEEG?
When I had my VEEG s the specialists preferred I had someone familiar with my partials who would be able to press the button if I had a seizure (incase I couldn't). I had my Mum with me & she had a chair which folded out to a single bed to sleep on which was next to me.
I didn't have a bed but instead I had a big recliner chair which I could recline right out when I wanted to sleep.

Hahaha good one Nakamova! So you're a bit shaky huh? Well that's annoying now isnt it! Do you definitely feel its epilepsy related? Does this mean that the next stage for you would be auras? Let us know how the increased dose works out.

I assume it will be Christine who will be helping me out, I hope so. There is also Judy who i've met before. She's nice too but I think Christine has a wicked sense of humour which will be good for me. She picked up the phone and said "Naomi! What can I do you for?" lol. I hope your nurse warms up, sometimes I guess we just catch them on a stressful day. Once they get to know you it will be different.

CQ:) my mum will be there as much as she can, but I've asked friends to visit if they want to and let me know when so I can give mum some time off. She won't want to leave if things start to happen, but if she knows someone else will be there she might be able to relax and go about her day. So you're mum got a bed but you were in the recliner? I'd want it the other way around!

Pita300; it's all happening mate! But I'll politely decline the sweaty stripper. He might blow my cords man!

Yes at the hospital where I had my VEEG the patients have this huge recliner chair to lay on. I didn't mind too much because it was comfy enough but I got sick of sitting down so would go for more walks to the toilet (we had ensuite in our room) just to get out of the chair lmao.

It is always great if we are able to have a good patient/professional relationship with our specialists (Neurologist, epitiologist, epilepsy nurse etc).
As I already mentioned my epilepsy nurse Penny is fantastic, both she & my neuropsyh Marie have been a huge support to me over the past 2 1/2 years, in particular the 12 months after my surgery. I only see Penny now when I have to go to the epilepsy clinic for checkups but I email her on a regular basis with updates or if I have any queries. If I need to ring Penny for something once she knows its me she will say "Hello darl how can i help you Today?" If I do have any questions for Penny she is always happy to answer them no matter how big or small they are.
