I'm waiting for a larger number. :) But I'm feeling like it will happen. I just need to keep on working on my other health concerns.
 
Are you seeing someone to help with your IBS?

Dietician support is worth it as they can provide you with ideas and food guides and you know it involves trial and error with some stuff.

Not sure if you are aware but there is breath tests can check for IBS like the hydrogen breath test? My girl is not compliant to do this but it could work for you in sorting out the baddies.

I need to see a new gastroenterologist. The last one I went to had a bad bed side manner. That was prior to my gall bladder surgery. I'm also planning to find a dietitian that specializes in IBS.

Hmm, I had a breath test for lactose intolerance. It didn't show anything.
Maybe there is a better test that's more conclusive.

Did you get other stuff like fructose and sorbitol tested?
It's important to find an experienced dietician as my girl is on a low FODMAP diet by Monash University under the guidance of the dietician.
Too much of certain foods that have eg excess fructose eg asparagus, polyols with high sorbitol like apples, pears can trigger IBS symptoms.
Different foods affect people differently.
I've had to do a lot of experimenting as some foods don't agree with my girl... Like corn which is considered a FODMAP goodie.
 
I believe the test focused on Lactose / Acid reflux.

Hopefully I could try the FODMAP diet, when I find the right dietitian in my area.
The stress caused by the effects of IBS brings on headaches. Prior to my surgery
it would also bring on CPS. :( That's one of the biggest reasons why I am staying on my AED. I don't plan on changing it until I can get my IBS under control.

Twenty-one months seizure free. :)

I'm not that much of a gambler, but I'll take that hand. :)

Planning on getting a referral to a specialist next week. Gotta get my IBS in check,
then I'll be on great path.
 
Ibs is horrible I had extended colectomy years ago as bowel become redundant but it came back,I had a few years of relief it drastic cure.
You been sz free over a year great

Congrats!

Even if you tested negative for lactose intolerance, milk products can still be a digestive issue for many people. This is due to intolerance of the casein protein in cow's milk.

Goat milk is much easier on the human digestive system being much closer in structure to human milk.

It's been a long couple of months but he's pretty much back to himself though unfortunately had a couple of seizures last week or two (the first since surgery). He had an mri scan the other day so we are just waiting to see the what the docs think of that.

It takes time for the brain to heal. Try to give him some less intensive play time.
IE: If he's played hard for 30 minutes, have sit down and do some quiet activity (color, draw, read) to calm down.

A few times within the first month after surgery I had a couple auras. These would be a few seconds of a warm flushed feeling. I was completely consciousness the whole time. The only time they occurred is when I was to active or stressed. Once I realized what happened, I slowed down. I let my brain heal more before I got more active. Since then no more of those auras. I can get a bad headache on a stressful or very busy day. But other than that no seizures.

I plan I getting a full intolerance test. As far as I know I'm ok with cow milk. But want a current test to confirm it. If I do have issues with it, I have no problem switching
to soy or goats milk.

3/13/16 Twenty-two months feeling ok. No seizures in sight, knocking hard on wood to keep it that way. :)

Hopefully the IBS specialist I see next month can get me on my way to feel good. :)
 
BIGMAN,

I have IBS. I've been doing a lot better since I started listening to my body several years ago. I took notice of which drinks and foods messed with my stomach and eliminated them from my diet or maybe have them once in awhile, depending on what it is. For example, I eliminated milk and soda. Pay attention and listen to your body.
 
I haven't drank soda in over 5 years. As for milk, I don't believe it bothers me.

But I plan on getting a food intolerance test to eliminate the problem foods.

I do have a "few" foods I like that sometimes bother me, but not always.
 
BIGMAN,

I've noticed that some foods only bother me if I eat them too much--like three days in a row or too large a quantity. It also depends on how my stomach is feeling that day. It's like my stomach tells me, "No, you don't want to eat that today."
 
Hey BigM!

Just wanted to say, I'm glad all worked out. I tried reading this whole thread, but ever since I got this dam E, I can't read long posts or books and things anymore. (I had to skim over everything here) You keep on truckin' brother! Meds are getting better and procedures are getting better.
