Thanks for all of the replies. Also I have been reading all the articles you guys write. It has been quite a learning experince.
I was on the new dilantin, and it did not work. I went to my neurologist and he changed my medicine to Lyrica-cv. 75mg twice daily. I am going to list my questions, so I can make sure I ask all of them. You guys know so much about this.
1. I read lyrica makes you gain weight. Is it because it makes you hungry, or is it a blow up type weight like predisone does. One of you said you gained 20 lbs. I am thin and could use 10 lbs, but I think with too much weight I would be miserable.
2. I have sleep apnea. It is central apnea, not the type that you throat closes because of soft tissue. does this lyrica interfer with that.
3. Have you had any bad side efects with this med? One girl had a bad experince where she could not talk. do you think that was the medicine or part of her epilepsy?
4. What is this about megnesium. I take it in a group of vitimans I take daily, but I was taking it to get the calcium to my bones. 12oo mg of calcium, 600 mg of megnesium and 800 IU of vitiam D. Do I need more?
5. Someone reported on taking folic acid? how much of that? I now take 800 mcg.
6. What do the beets give that is needed for the seizures. I don't like beets, but I am a health food nut and will eat whatever I have to.
Thank you so much for all of the help.

I was taking Lyrica for my Fibro before I even found out that I had epilepsy, it made me very jittery and anxious I couldn't sleep, It made me suicidal and all that fun stuff. Not saying that it will make you feel this way that was just my experience with it. HTH

*chuckle* The only question I can answer on your list is #5. My neurologist said I needed to take 800mcg per day of folic acid. I asked if there were any other vitamins or minerals that I should take and he said no. However, if you take herbal supplements, you should check to see if it has an interaction with your medication. For example, chamomile and garlic can raise blood serum levels for people taking phenobarbital.

thanks, where do I go to check the herb conection. I have an herb garden, really don't use a lot of things, but some.
