Further to my plans to travel to Thailand, Vietnam and South Korea and obvious or potential concern I need to take a precaution to is Malaria.

Does anyone know if anti-malaria tablets have a reaction to epileptic medications.

I take

Lamacital and Keppra

Cheers in advance

Not sure how accurate this is, but I found it in another forum...

"Lariam is not safe in epilepsy and can cause all kinds of psychiatric side effects.

Doxycycline is safe in epilepsy. It can cause nausea and sickness, but you can normally prevent this by taking it with a meal. You also should not lie down within an hour of taking it and remember that it makes you vulnerable to sunburn.

Malarone is safe in epilepsy and side effects are much less common. It should be taken with fatty food or a glass of milk to aid absorption.

You can always try them out before you travel so there is time to switch.

Do not consider travelling unprotected under any circumstances."

I don't know about the other drugs but Doxycycline is an antibiotic that fights bacterial infections
Doxycycline is used to treat many different bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, acne, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, periodontitis (gum disease), and others.
Whereas Malaria is a parasitic disease. Definitely avoid doxycycline, at least for malaria.
Malaria is a parasitic disease that involves high fevers, shaking chills, flu-like symptoms, and anemia.

Thanks guys keep them coming....

Im not sure switching meds is a good idea whilst kind of controlled, it could mess up my epilepsy which in turn prevent me travelling aboard.
