My vitamin store where I get my calcium and Vitamin D supplements to fight the bone loss that AEDs inevitably cause, gave me a new product that they say they've "heard" works well at building bone for those with osteopenia or osteoperosis.

Its called MBP Bone Renew and its supposed to be based on milk protein and if you take it for 6 mos you can get some results.

Here is another link on how it is supposed to work..

Anyone ever tried it? Is it safe for people with E?

Nak, I also saw this study.

Does this mean that in this study that MBP showed to be of no significant benefit?

Also, I've also tried to look up any side effects that might be associated with the MBP Bone Renew product, but wasn't able to find any information. Does anyone else know of any side effects associated with this type of thing?

NCBI has published a follow up study on only men. A very short and small trial, but nonetheless:

"type-I collagen (NTx) excretion had decreased significantly after 16 days of ingesting MBP. The urinary NTx excretion was related to the serum osteocalcin concentration after 16 days of ingestion. These results suggest that MBP promoted bone formation and suppressed bone resorption, while maintaining the balance of bone remodeling."

I read that women who are breastfeeding should not take this, and it made me wonder if these types of products mess with Prolactin levels. Anybody heard anything about these products and prolactin levels?

I'm a guy but I've had all sorts of hormone issues from AEDs, so I try to keep an eye out for anything I take that might cause unwanted effects. And as a guy, I definitely don't want elevated Prolactin levels..
