If you have one what do you have or where did you get it?

I understand the plus and minus of an idk. For me, many years go when I had a grand mal seizure and fell down a flight of stairs, I am very glad I had a necklace... the guys from the ambulance could look at it an knew just what would be best for them to do. Today in the hospital a nurse on the shift change could look directly at my necklace as opposed to reading paperwork when I had a seizure. Me, I go with the necklace so when I do not feel comfortable just tucking it into my shirt, half hiding it. I go through Medic Alert and am very happy with them as they have all my (necessary/positive) data on file which can directly be shared immediately. While it costs a few extra dollars, I am very happy with them 8)

Hi there :) I wear one and will until my seizures are better controlled. I'm cheap and found a decent one on Ebay and then had a pink leather bracelet made for it. I think I ended up only paying $20 or so. I think I have a picture of it in my album. But don't be mistaken...Epilepsy isn't an illness, it's a condition. :) I hope you find one that matches you, if you decide to get one. There's lots of different styles to suit different needs and personalities.

Hi ems, I do have one. The main reason is that I can lose consciousness when I have a seizure. One time I fell on a public street during a seizure and the people nearest to me (three young women) thought I was intoxicated. I don't remember much from the seizure, but I do remember the looks on their faces. I tried to get up a few times, finally using a street sign post to get up, stumbling back to my office somehow where my colleagues called 911. I broke my thumb that day and ended up with a frozen shoulder that I'm still dealing with. I alternately feel angry, sad, and annoyed about that incident. But the bright side is that a young man, an undergraduate at the college where I work, knew something was wrong that did not include being on drugs or being drunk, and followed me back to my office building to alert my coworkers.

I got my bracelet from the Medic Alert website here in the U.S. and I did pay fee in addition to purchasing the bracelet for them to store a lot of information in their database including the names and contact information of my doctors, all of the medications (and dosages) I take, my emergency contacts, all medical conditions, etc. On the back it says: Complex Partial Seizures, Latex Allergy and an 800 number to call. I think. Today is the 2nd day ever that I forgot to put it on since I got it! I feel kind of naked without it. :)

It is pretty with pink and white beads, so I do hope that if I fall or become unconscious in public again that the EMTs will recognize it. I think about getting a more recognizable and smaller one because it does kind of get in the way when I'm typing. On the other hand, I like that the general public doesn't recognize it as a Medic Alert bracelet unless they look really close. I know that if I lose partial consciousness and am thinking (big IF there), I can point to the bracelet. I hope, anyway! I lose a lot memory with my seizures, so who knows if I'm able to do that. I would say if you lose consciousness or partial consciousness, something like that is so important. Before I had a bracelet, I had something typed up in my wallet that the hospital had printed for me on discharge on the many times I had been dragged to the ER when someone called 911 - because the EMTs always went for my license I had it tucked behind my license. But when I was walking that day, I did not have my purse with me. :/

I also wear a bracelet that I purchased from MedicAlert. I like it because like Sparkles said, they have a database that has a lot of info for them when they call the 800 # on the back. Plus I also have Type 1 Diabetes, so it has come in handy for me. When I had my car accident, the paramedics saw my bracelet and because I had a CP seizure and couldn't speak yet, the paramedics knew to check my glucose level also. But my bracelet isn't pretty like Sparkles', just the plain ole basic looking one.

I also have a bracelet through Medic Alert. I have complex seizures where my consciosness is impaired. I would rather people know than not. I am not afraid to let people know I have epilepsy. Even though my seizures just started last year, it is part of who I am. I can't change it so I try to just keep going and manage the best I can,

There are other websites where you can just order the bracelet part. I have several that I wear and just move the engraved tag from one to another.

I also wear a medic alert bracelet which is through the Australian Medic Alert Foundation. Mine looks just like the one Cint posted a pic of but mine is all silver (even the emblem).

I have had my bracelet since my seizures returned in 2002, I haven't had a seizure for 2 1/2 years but still wear the bracelet & keep my information registered just in case I was to have another seizure

I wear one because, like Sparkles, I've had some episodes through which people thought I was either drunk or on drugs. I've had others through which people thought I was psychotic. That's not what's wrong, and when those things are happening, the people around me need to know that. Another thing is that first-time seizures are treated somewhat differently than recurring seizures. That bracelet lets paramedics know I have a seizure disorder, and also (even without looking at my wallet card) that I'm taking medication that could interact with drugs they might otherwise administer.

I got one of these:

I'm super happy with it. I'm pretty active...and clumsy...and there's no chain to get caught up in anything. The band goes behind the plate, too, so I don't break out from having metal against my skin all day. It came with a wallet card, but I got another medications card at my doctor's office.

You could always get an anklet if you don't want to draw attention to your seizures. At least if you're not clumsy like me. :P

I have a medic alert bracelet that I got a jewelry store. It's very pretty and you really wouldn't realize that it is a medic alert bracelet unless you knew.

I wear it so that if I were to have a seizure people would know that I have epilepsy. The other reason, the more important one I think, is that I'm allergic to certain meds and I want to make sure I'm not given them incase I go to the ER. I need to get a new one or see if I'm able to have more put on this one because there are more things that I can't have that aren't on it.

Finally got one (can't pose the pic..boo... its the lilac medical ID bracelet from medicalert)

Well I won't receive it for the next 7 days or something.. but either way I got one. Lol...

And would help to since I'm deathly allergic to dye and iodine...
