Am I cured? i've been taking the meds couple of months . at first they didn't work but now seems they're working cause i used to have a lot of movement and now i don't.

So my questions are:
1)Basically am I cured forever?
2)I heard something about that people should have their liver check. Cause something about the meds damaging the liver. So if they are damaging, then i'm gonna die?

3)the meds make me very sleepy throughout the day.

niceguy,
you'll alway have epilepsy know matter what If you stop taken your meds your sz's will start back most likely.
My husband has epilepsy had LTL in 1972 but still has auras so he still takes Traxene to control his auras. He hasn't had a sz since surgery in 1972.
my neuro checks my liver when I have blood work done, and most ppl get use to the side effects of the meds I do.

Niceguy,

It has been mentioned on the forum a few times that there is currently NO cure for epilepsy. All we good is try different things to help control our seizures.

If your meds are helping control your issues then that is a good thing but however it doesn't mean you are cured.

Although the medications all have side effects they have different side effects eg - some may affect your liver. You should really be asking your dr if the medication you are on affects your liver or any other organ in any way or if you need regular blood tests.

That was the case for me I had tonic clonics on a regular basis from 9 months until I was 3. Because I was seizure free I was able to come of my meds when I was 7. I had no seizures for 21 years until they returned in 200 when I was 24.

I had my surgery on my left temporal lobe in 2011, I haven't had any complex partials or tonic clonics since the surgery. But I do have the odd funny feeling which is very short & doesn't affect me. I spoke to my neurologist about these funny feelings in March & he altered my meds to see if it will help reduce the funny feelings. My specialists are currently monitoring these funny feelings as they are thinking they could be auras.
When I had my surgery I always knew I would be on meds for the rest of my life but how much medication all depends on how controlled my seizures are.
