i tried to look thru posts and threads for some answers or experience on this and now I just figured to start this would be easier.

can I be having many seizures in one day and almost every day? i am on Keppr and Lamictal, with the plan to fet off the keppra eventually. i just had my lamictal levels tested the other day. anyway, i have not been having grand mals/tonic clonics tho..my last TC was February 5th. I have simple and complex seizures almost every dayand many a day. mostly just simple I think and even occasionally in my sleep. sometimes I know sometimes I don't. sometimes I can tell one is coming. other times I can't. sometimes I have an aura and some weird sensations, foggy brain and hungover, for what to me could seem like an hour. I can tell some days are worse than others depending on sleep, stress, and other triggers.
anyway..the other day. my husband and daughter reacted funny when I told a friend of mine that I thought they were getting less and less. they seemed to see it differently and said I don't remember alot of things going on. then tonight with another friend visiting, they talked about how some days I have 5 or more, even 15 "episodes" (my hubby's word as he) i was like "no way..you guys are being ridiculous" my daughter said 15 was a bit high side, but she said there are many on my "bad days"
okay...after this novella.... finally my question...is this or does this sound normal? I realize from reading everyone is different..but should I be concerned? are these the "weird" things the doctor said to call him about after last visit?
thanks for listening.

Hi Serendipity,
Auras and simple partials are the same thing, and yes from what I've read on here combined with neurology articles combined with my own experience when I was younger... you can have them all the time. In my early 20's they came on like clockwork every three weeks and lasted three days straight (not catamenial e). They came and went constantly all day and night for those three days.
It is also possible, though rare (go to ER straight away as it could generalize) to experience simple partial status elipticus.
Yep I'd say call your neuro, it's such a blessing to have one that asks you to call if something's wrong. Best of luck...

Hi serendipity,
I have temporal lobe seizures that are kinda like petite-mal seizures. I'm taking 2000 mg of Keppra twice a day and 125 mg of Lamictal twice a day and am still having about 5 seizures per month. Before and after I have the seizure I feel the sensations or auras fluctuate. If they get too strong then I go into a seizure. My doctor said those fluctuating sensations can be mini seizures so he prescribed me 5 mg of Valium 1-2 tablets for a cluster of seizures. It helps so much. Maybe you could read about Valium helping seizure clusters, sensations, or auras. Suprisingly my medical information sheet on Valium said it can be used to help control seizures.

If it is not normal for you it is not normal. For some, it is normal. It's my normal while they are figuring out meds.
It is frustrating and difficult to live with. For sure, talk to your neurologist! It takes a while to figure out what is the right treatment and it can change over time.

thanks so much you guys for your help!
I meant too mention that my next scheduled appt with neuro is this coming Wednesday, so I should be good. *crossing fingers*

this is my normal since it all started. I know he is playing with meds and it was going to take a while. but I will mention the Valium to him. I guess I kinda panicked with the way they were talking with our friend last nite who happens to be an EMT...she kinda gave a funny reaction to having so many a day, which made me think this was not good. maybe she overreacted. :)
that and I didn't realize I was having as many as they said.

aha..yes, cluster is a good way to describe it.

...qtowngirl, im pretty sure at some point i knew that about auras and simples, and almost positive I schooled my family on it too...another dense moment, don't tell my family! lolol

I feel alot better thank you. :)

Since I was about fourteen I've been having simple partials that kind of coincide with my menstrual cycle, anywhere from 1 to 20 a day. I'm 33 now and it's pretty familiar to me, but my doctor does tell me that if anything abnormal happens to call him as my seizures have evolved over the years. The last time I had to call him was about five months ago when I had three absence seizures in two hours which had never happened to me before, in that case he upped my keppra dosage. Anyway, I think that's a common theme for a lot of us in relation to when we contact our doctors, if your seizures begin to change or become more frequent, that kind of thing. Good luck with the medication, I've been trying to find the right dosing and meds for a few years now.

thanks...hmmm. I'm thinking I shoulda called him. I know we are still in a medicine adjustment phase and I guess it needs a bit more adjusting! I guess when he said weird and to call him or go to ER if he wasn't available..I was thinking "big" weird. it's all a bit confusing to say the least.
