How I feel about epilepsy.

Katy Perry Roar:

You held me down, but I got up
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up
Get ready cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me ROAR
Louder, louder than a lion
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me ROAR

You’re gonna hear me ROAR!!!!!!!!!

When I hear this song or even think about it I want to cry. Not because I am sad, but because I know I can get through this. I just know I can!! Epilepsy will not rule MY life! :woot:

Janellie :)

The lyrics hit me the exact same way when I heard it for the first time, a few months ago, Janellie! A young girl here in Toronto, who was nearing her fight with cancer did a video of herself singing that song, and it went viral. Katy Perry recorded and released a video message to her. I saw an update last week (I think) that the young girl lost her fight :crying:

I put this song on my running playlist, because it gets me motivated!! Stay with the fight! :)

2ndchances,

This song is very inspirational and simply amazing- it can be put in many perspectives. In our cases epilepsy and in that young girl's case, cancer. That's so sad that the young girl wasn't able to pull through!! :( Good luck to you my darling!

Hugs,
Janellie :)

I forgot to mention another reason it hits close to my heart. When my seizures came back in May 2011, it stung. I was destroyed. While on the phone, a friend said to me, "Be fierce, Mel." And I muttered back a wimpy little 'rawr'. A few days later, I read a poem that talked about strength and determination and stuff, and had a tribal symbol that went along with it.

A few days later, I brought a picture of that tribal symbol and a tiger to my tattoo artist, and he created the following...

This picture was taken when I was still sedated after my second surgery this past April. The stuffed tiger is what my husband and son brought to the hospital for me :)

I've had to look at it several times to remind myself that I can get through this.

Good luck to you as well!

2ndchances,

That is beautiful! I love it. The meaning is beautiful and the art work is beautiful. Your support system sounds amazing :) One day I hope to have a husband that loves me enough to support me like that. I hope you aren't in that devastating place anymore, it seems that you have grown and became a strong person. That tattoo means a lot to you, I am glad you shared this with me :)

Hugs,
Janellie :)
