well, that 5.57 was in January of 2011, it's now 3.94 but it's still elevated. I went to my doctors office with a note for the doctor and told the person there the symptoms I was having and that I'm hoarse everyday and she said she'd have my doctors Nurse call me and give the note to my doctor. Whether it's thyroid or not, something's not right.

like i said, it might've been 5.57 at the time of that particular blood draw, but it could go as high as 8 in the middle of the night, and it varies from day to day, hour to hour...

I took a note to my doctors office and told the person there the symptoms I was having and how even though the urgent care doctor said the levels were within normal range, I still think it's my Thyroid. I wrote the doctor a note listing my symptoms and that I think it's my Thyroid and told him to look at the hospital report on what the doctor said. She said she'd give the doctor the note and have his nurse call me. If I don't hear from her, I'll go back down there for sure. I'm not gonna let any of my doctors just dismiss what I'm feeling, something is going on and I want to know what. Oh and the woman admitted that DIFFERENT LABS have DIFFERENT ranges as far as Thyroid.

My doctors nurse called me back and I talked to her personally and she said that my doctor doesn't think my Thyroid is a concern because they are in the normal levels and said that it can go up in times of critical illnesses like I had. And said he does want to keep an eye on it since it does tend to go up but right now it's nothing to worry about, however, being I'm hoarse all the time, that can be concerning and he's going to refer me to a ear, nose and throat specialist so if it's not my thryoid, I'll get some kind of answers anyway.

I am starting to think my inhaler is the culprit of my hoarseness. Doctor said Thyroid is fine and will keep an eye on it though, I probably do have a mild case of Hypothyroidism but he doesn't see the need to treat it though.

He's referring me to an ENT specialist (Eye, Nose, Throat doctor)

the ENT will spot the thyroid problems if it is lumpy, fibrous, a goitre, etc. He can then refer you onwards if need be.

This is not a bad thing.

Thanks, that's good. I'll be sure to tell him or her about the constant up and down levels of my thyroid and what the hospital doctors said as well as my primary doctor.

Can you have Hypothyroidism without having high thyroid levels? Just wondering if there's an accurate time they should be testing those.

I think someone specializing in the endocrine system would be more reliable than an acupuncturist.

I've found that, at least in the UK, the endocrinologists are bean counters, numbers-men, who are hand-tied by the NHS to only do things one way without using their judgement, and that sometimes the best doctors, are people who've worked privately and been able to use their brains rather than NICE guidelines.

I don't know if endocrinologists are the same in N. America though even if they are, having been trained in acupressure I can say that acupressure or acupuncture is not the practitioner you want to deal with your thyroid problems either.
