I had surgery last week (not related to epilepsy), and have been extremely nauseated. I've been throwing up most of my seizure meds since Thursday. The doc has tried all kinds of nausea medication, none seem to work well.
My neurologist says that it takes 1-1/2 to 2 hours for seizure meds to make it into the intestine to be metabolized. If it it thrown up before then than it hasn't much made it into my body. So if I throw it up before an hour and a half I've taken a second dose. I usually throw up the second dose, too. My main seizure medication (trileptal 1200mg, Lamictal 50mg) does not come in an injectible form. The lamictal does, but I'm not on a theraputic dose yet.
I'm feeling somewhat deydrated, and am considering a trip into the ER to get an IV of fluids. I'm trying to avoid it because you know what they're like once they get their paws on you.
I had four seizures yesterday. Am feeling a constant aura right now.
Advice on the meds?
