Today we contacted the doctor who he is seeing for his tumor on his pituatary gland in his brain. We found out about him having this in September 2011. Since then, he has had 2 MRI's... in sept 2011, and Feb 2012. He was taking Pregnyl to help get his testosterone levels up, since this tumor is affecting those, and it worked great, but was very costly. The dr wanted to increase his dose and we would be looking at paying at least $200 a month. Something we dont have. So we got referred to a specialist who since May 2012, has put him on testosterone shots, once every two weeks. He started out taking 1 ml, then in september, increased it to 1.5ml each shot. Since then, Ive noticed he's starting to gain more weight, be very sluggish, he has no energy and is just tired all the time. He's just going downhill. So we contacted the drs to update them, since his next appointment is not til December 10. We didnt want to wait another month. He has high blood pressure, which he takes medication for, and has two small kidneys. Those alone, along with his weight being so high, is a concern of mine. So, we told this to the doctor this morning. We asked if they could do a blood check to see where his level was at for his testosterone so see if just the .5 increase each shot was doing its job. My gut told me it wasnt. Instead, we get a call back, saying she spoke with the doctor, and he said his concern is that the tumor may be getting larger. :( If the increase in medication is not improving things, thats the only thing he could think of was to why its not helping. So he said to go back to the endo dr, and get them to order a MRI since its been almost 10 months since his last one. Suprisingly, we got in today! We go to see the dr today at 4:40pm in Omaha. They need to have us come into the office to update them on whats been going on, since the last time we saw them was in January. Then they said they would order a MRI to be scheduled. The last time they said the tumor was too small to be removed, There was more risk in taking it out, than just leaving it and treating it with medication.

Now Im afraid of what if its getting bigger? We did find a hospital in AZ that removes these types of tumors. but again, its another state, and were in the process of getting all of his medication information to them. We heard one dr faxed everything over, were just waiting on two more drs.

Im just stressed and worried. I hope everything goes well and we get the answers we need so we can get things going better for him.

i really hope you do get the answers you need and that he gets better soon. i'm sure the doctors will do everything they can for you both, then you can take your mind off all of this

Hope you get some reassuring news Kristin. Keep us posted.

Kristin, Your husband as well as you and your sons are in my prayers

We got back from the drs alittle bit ago...

they had him do more lab work, they said to give it a week to get it all back. They didnt change his medication at all.. but said they do want to do another MRI, but wait til after they get the results back on all the labs. So now we wait and see what comes about.

Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts! Its truely appreciated so much! :rose:

Thank you so much everyone. last year at this time, we had found out about the tumor, and was trying a great medication, but thats the one which cost a fortune! It sucks that its only used for certain things, and insurance companies wont cover it! I just have to tell myself to go on, wait til we hear back from the doc, and pray that things go ok. I was hoping they would schedule the MRI tonight, but they decided to wait til the labs are back to make that decision.

Thinking of you Kristin. It is scary, tho. My neuro once thought I had a pituitary tumor because my prolactin level was high from a medication I was taking at the time.

Thank you Cint. It was very scary finding out last year that they found this. He's had symptoms that started in August 2007, and we didnt know what was going on til May 2010, when I saw a commercial for low testosterone. He had 9 out of 10 symptoms. So I literally had to force him to go to the doctor's to get his testosterone level checked. Turned out to only be 200, and that was for a 32 year old male! Very low! So from then on, we went to a local ureologist, who we tried several different testosterone therapies with for 15 months. None of them worked. we went from gels, patches, deodarants, pallets, the little things they stick on the gums inside the mouth... shots... just so many we went through and none of them worked. After 15 months, I told the nurse at that drs office we were done. Thats when I called up my dr who I see for PCOS. I knew she specialisted in hormones, and wanted her to see if she could help. It was her that ordered all the lab work, and saw some off, so she ordered a MRI and found the tumor. Now based off of his last MRI In february, they said it was too small to even mess with. So they resulted in giving him medication to treat the symptoms and how it was affecting his testosterone level. The testosterone shots we've been trying since the end of may, is not helping at all. The highest he can go on that, is 2ml once every 10 days... so basicly three times a month. He is now taking 1.5ml once every two weeks. His last level was 156! way too low again! Im just praying the drs know what they are doing and can help. The last thing I want to happen is have something bad happen to my husband, or have to go through all that stress I had to go through over the last year again.

you and your husband are in my prayers. Prayer is a powerful thing! Keep trusting and believing.

Thank you to all of you for all the thoughts and prayers! They are very much appreciated! :)
