I was on high doses of neurontin for about 10 years for migraine preventive & partial seizures. During that time I developed meniere's which is a most
horrible illness. I now read that neurontin may have been the cause of meniere's. Has anyone else been on the drug & now has meniere's? thanks.

I was also on Neurontin for about 10 yrs for nerve pain and went toxic 2 yrs ago and now I have vertigo problems all the time and feeling like I'm falling. Are you still taking it?

I was on Neurontin but was only on it from November 2009 - November 2010. I hated being on the Neurontin because it gave me the worse side effects of any of the meds I've been on. I don't recall every having any issues with menieres but I had other side effects from the Neurontin which included being extremley tired all the time, moody, emotional & I'm sure my memory was worse when I was on it aswell.

I only take it now as needed when I have nerve pain or a migraine. What do you mean "went toxic"? My dosage was 3600mg to as much as 5600mg day for a long time. I don't know how I survived taking such a high dose but at the time it didn't seem to bother me. Now when I have to take a 100 mg dose it puts me in the bed. The only reason I still take it for migraines I haven't been able to tolerate any other med. I have a feeling it is what caused my meniere's but I can't prove it.

That sounds like a high doseage.

When I was on Neurontin I was also on Keppra & Tegretol. I was on 400mg Neurontin 3 times a day (breakfast,lunch & dinner), 1500mg Keppra 2 times a day (breakfast & dinner) & Tegretol 400mg twice a day (breakfast & dinner).

I hated being on so much meds & felt like a walking zombie. When I got taken of the Neurontin the epitiologist also reduced my Keppra back to 100mg a day. Once I got taken of the Neurontin I felt so much better not so tired & I was back to being happy instead of moody.

I was on 900 mg a day which was 300 mg three times a day. It could have been that you were not taking continually that has caused the problem. You really can't go on and off a drug like this. Your body needs it to balance taking a continually to work right. Neurontin has been known for not working the same if you stop and restart it. I went toxic just from taking it for so long and my body said no more. Also that was a high amount for me because I was weighing only 100 pounds.
