So after my appointment being cancelled last time i have my neuropsychologist appointment tomorrow.

No idea what to expect at my first appointment, not sure why i even need to see one in the first place. I have no major traumas in my life, no mental problems so hmm...

Is there anything i should be taking with me? Anything i should be asking? I looked up the doc i will be seeing and apparently his specialist interest is PNES but my seizures were proved on an eeg and have reduced whilst being on my current meds :ponder:

Haha i just realised that i made a thread last time when i was supposed to have my appointment so i just read through it again :P

I'll let yous know how it goes anyway :comp:

I had one a couple of months back... it addressed a couple of things, including my memory issues. They did a couple of tests, and it also kinda helped with identifying where the seizures are taking place. I did some tests that kinda reminded me of kindergarten, lol. It was actually pretty interesting.

I didn't have to bring anything/anyone with me. It seemed more scientific than a usual therapy session. They looked at things like reaction time, memory, language, spatial ability (I was really bad at that, which was no surprise to me!) I guess that can tell you a lot about different things.

Hope it goes well Lou! It shouldn't be stressful, just some basic tests, but don't be shy about asking questions if they aren't clear about what the testing is for.

How did it go ?? Everything alright ... Did they comment much

Hope your doing ok

Hope things went well! I went to one in March of 2011. She was a very nice person. My first visit consisted of telling her why I was sent to her, what my seizures were like, etc. I saw her for three months after then she said what my dr thought was non epileptic seizures, are really epileptic seizures.

Yeah my first visit was pretty much what kind of seizures i have, plus other stuff like qualifications i have, how i did in school, have i ever seen a psychologist/psychiatrist before.

It went ok, it last about half an hour. He's going to make an appointment to do some cognitive tests and stuff but it'll probably be months and months til i hear anything.

Thats good Lou,glad things went ok,that means a lot that you have got off on a good first foot, great.

Did he say what the point of the whole thing was?

Yeah after about 20 minutes i managed to get out of him that my neurologist had referred me because i'd said about feeling like i was losing my intelligence and forgetting stuff more.

Not much really happened at my first appointment. To me it seemed like rather a waste of time, but hey ho.

He obviously must have found something i said interesting, he filled like 3 pages of writing.
