New medication

Perhaps this will soon receive approval in the US and Canada. Will be nice to see another medication for patients and their neurologists to choose from.

Checked out the link. I love how they say it's "Rationally designed and developed...." As opposed to...irrationally?

Masterjen,

That looks very positive however, I would be concerned about the long term effects. (Not just 8 years),
like 25 years or more (I've on AEDs for 36 years but I know what I can expect over the long term).
IMO, It hasn't been around long enough to get a good read on lt.

You could end up with worse side effects than you have now, plus, everybody reacts differently to meds.

Of all the drugs I've taken there never been long term effects.
I've taken Valium,Tranxene,Dilantin,Phenobarb,Diamox,in more than 50 years and I'm fine and so is my mind.

That's great to hear, All meds respond differently to everyone so it looks like you're one of the lucky ones in this case.

Long term effects of new AEDs

You're situation with the meds you're on is a perfect example of what I said in my reply to the post above by masterjen. All of the meds you are on have been around for many years so we've had lots of time to iron out the bugs and anylise their long term effects and you will know what to expect in the very long term.

e.u very strict they must think ok.only have to read posts first second generation medication still not controlling sz in many people....For myself I happy new drug on market may have less side effects .i would give it a go if in position that needed change of medication.
