Hi all

I have been on Lamotragine for a year now and can honestly say its done nothing for me at all . My seizures have been just as frequent and getting worse all the time . I have finally been given new meds - which I am relieved about but also a little scared . They have put me on Keppra - which i was really pleased about until I read the side effects of this drug and now im in a panic as due to start them tonight

Just wondered what everyone elses experience of this drug is ?!?! Anything I should watch for ?? Any advice is VERY gratefully recieved

Thanks for reading :paperbag:

My experience with Keppra was pretty bad but you have to remember that when the side-effects of a drug are listed they list all the possible side-effects. People rarely get them all if any.

Just for fun I think you should check the side-effects for Lamotragine & I'll bet they'll be almost or just as bad yet it doesn't sound like you got a lot of side-effects that drug.

I've been on enough drugs to know to watch for the side-effects & if I do get them, see if they subside but not to also realize those are all possible side-effects & that the possibility of me getting them all is slim.

I take 2,500mgs of Keppra everyday with no side effects. Sure I get tired every now and then, but none of the famous "keprage" that so many people talk about. Fingers crossed for you that you sail right along with it!

I've been on Keppra for 2 years & currently take 2500mg Keppra twice a day.

Luckily I never had any side effects from the Keppra & like Husky Mom did not get 'Keprage".

I have had more problems with Neurontin which I have been on for a year. I'm going to hospital next week for Video EEG monitoring & I have already enquired if the specialist can keep me of the Neurontin after the Video EEG is over.

I know someone who's very happy on Keppra! You never know how it will work out for you. Stay positive and pay attention to how you are feeling.

Thank you so much for the advice everyone - I suppose the only way to deal with is for me to stop having a panic attack about it and just do it and find out . As I said I am due my first tablet in a few hours time so will let you know how it goes

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer me - I really appreciate the support and kindness xxxxx

I was started on Keppra almost 3 years ago. Doc started me on 500mg twice a day. In the beginning, my biggest problem was being so sleepy. Doc explained he would start me slowly and would increase as needed. I would have breakthrough seizures, so my dosage got increased slowly. My last dosage change was Oct 2009 to 1250mg twice a day. I just celebrated one year with no seizures this October!
The kepprage didn't happen to me in the beginning, but after I had been on it for a few months. It did get better for me. All of us are different when it comes to how we do on seizure meds and side effects. Be aware, but don't discount it unless you see a problem...you may be lucky like me and find out that Keppra is a wonderful drug. best of luck, jenn
