I've had epilepsy and been on phenobarbital since 1989. Tried several other drugs: keppra, tegratol, dilantin, neurontin... had allergic or negative reactions, so back on pheno.

The new neurologist I saw today believes I do not have simple partial, but have complex partial seizures- sometimes although I feel alert I detach and feel like I'm dreaming...

Through the years several doctors have suggested lamictal, which I always have declined, until now. I know I could get a rash or lose more hair, but I'm so sick of seizures. Although they've decreased I still have them..

Any feedback on lamictal or complex partial seizures is appreciated.

I took lamectil for about a week and half. Um, I take Dilantin already and the neuro added lamectil. My vision is fine but Dilantin gives me slightly blurry vision. When I added lamectil my went from slightly blurred to can't even see straight. It also made my legs sweat and the smell from the sweat was vile. Now, I haven't heard anybody else say these things about the drug so it may just be my experience.

As far as the complex partials, I believe I have them but am not positive because I'm not around other people that often. I have roommates but they have a life. They do say that some times I walk around with a blank look and don't say anything. I do recall loosing time but not these instances they speak of. I asked if they tried talking to me and they say no. What I'm getting at is I don't recall being unconscious. I walk around sometimes(aimlessly) because of anxiety. So, Hope this helped a smidge....Good luck
