I saw my new neuro yesterday who started me on Lamictal in addition to my phenytoin. I don't know if it's just me, placebo effect, the drug or what but I had a really nice feeling come over me yesterday, more peaceful.

Fellow lamictoids, I've read online and found it could take a week to kick in, give or take. How long did it take you? Did you ever really feel it "kick in"? or is the effect mild so that you never really notice?

I got the taper-pack for free from the appointment. How much does your Rx cost? Brand name vs, generic about the same effect?

I really hopes this helps.

sounds good pete, lam has a natural mood stabilizer in it, so it's supposed to provide a more relaxed state and tame down mood swings. worked for me for awhile, prob felt the full effects after a month or so, but after finding out about surgery nothing could stabilize me, just in general tho yeah i don't mind it. hope you're starting out in wee doses tho, takes a while to ramp up and has to be done slowwwwwly.

my Neuro gave me the ~official taper-pack~ that covers five weeks.
I hope it won't blunt moods while stabilizing them, but I'm interested to see how it works and hope it works well.

I was on it for two weeks. I cant recall what I felt, I basicly noticed the worst outbreak of sores around my chin and mouth area, that got worse as my dose increased, and my glands in my neck area were swollen and hurt like hell. If I recall right, I had to pay $40 for a month supply of the name brand Lamictal.

Lamictal kicked in pretty quickly for me, even though it was a slow ramp-up (while I tapered off of Zonisamide). For the first month or so I was very perky and focused during the day (good), then very restless at night when I tried to sleep (bad). Both of those side effects faded over time.

I am finishing my first week of lamictal. I am switching from topamax. Right now I take one 25mg tablet at night. I take that for one more week and then go up one 25 mg tablet every two weeks.

I notice a difference in the late afternoon and early evenings before I take my one 25 mg dose. My mood is lower and I am tired. I hope that when I start taking the second 25 mg dose in the AM (next week) that things will even out.
