Prior to my last three strong night seizures I was aware of a completely new type of feeling that occurred shortly before bed (about 4-5 hours before the seizure). I was dizzy, and it felt like my eyes were trying to sink into my head. It was only in hindsight that I was able to put things together, because this isn't a usual warning for me. Probably three times isn't enough to identify it as an aura, but it has me wondering if anyone else has ever developed a new type of aura.

I was wondering if the seizure I had last night if I actually hallucinated the doorbell ringing and someone standing outside the door. That thought scares the hell out of me. If I did, it would be a new aura. Previously, if I had an aura it was this sensation in my head - a sort of buzzing, tingling, kind of feeling I can't quite describe. It has to be very still and quiet for me to notice it and it happens within seconds of the seizure. Last night it was late in a suburban neighborhood and a middle aged woman standing at my door in the rain? Then no one was there when I opened the door? I don't know. I thought the dogs were barking too.

My daughter is 15 and she keeps getting dizzy and it will pass sometimes in seconds or minutes. I was looking it up online and one thing I read was that it could be a simple partial seizure, which is an aura, right? I don't think that is the case for her though I'll keep an eye on her, but maybe new auras can develop?

I wish I could help or provide a better answer. Sending you good thoughts.

It's not unusual for seizures to change in form, especially if they're not fully controlled. Make a note of any symptoms that seem new or different -- as you say it may be hard to tell at this point if they are seizure-related, but keeping track may make it clearer.

One thing that can contribute to dizziness and and a sunken feeling in the eyes can be muscle strain, the kind that comes from sitting with your head craned forward for a long stretch of time (like from watching TV or sitting at the computer). The muscle strain can lead to different kinds of referred pain throughout the head and eyes. So if that's at all a factor for you, try to avoid that kind of activity and/or take frequent breaks.
