LOL,

Yup, I got them all. Must be MS even though my only symptom was seizures. Must be low electrolytes even though I had taken months off of working out and I'm sure the 2 weeks in hospital would have fixed it. Must be extremely high iron, even though I rarely eat beef.... But they did it all because they care at least.

I'd definitely check as I don't know what it's like in the states. In Canada it's illegal to have an uninsured car parked on the street. Therefore they have a specific insurance created just for that. Then I can downgrade to it, and upgrade later without going through any process, just a phone call to accomplish it. No need to reaply, etc. Would be handy if you can do that too and save a few dollars.

Ann,
No apologies necessary! That is what I have been thinking about for the past few days. Plus, now that the medication is really starting to kick in, my husband barely lets me take a shower by myself let alone drive. These meds have me so stupid I got lost in WalMart the other day! The doctor says that this will pass, but I have unfortunately had to take some days from work in hopes that the side effects do subside.

Is there anyone in here that only had a handful of seizures before being put on meds? I am truly thinking about asking my doctor if I can go off the meds (or just going off them myself, considering I have only been taking them for 5 days) and seeing what happens. 2 seizures just does not seem like a lot to me in a month and a half. What do y'all think?

It may not seem like a lot but just having had those 2 seizures tells you that your seizure threshold is low. Also every time someone has a seizure it increases the probability of having more. For that reason I think it's best to try to control the seizures you have first before stopping the meds.

My advice would be to try a secondary treatment
first & see if that helps. If you get to the point that the seizures have completely stopped, Then slowly reduce & eventually stop the meds.

HI darkdreemer,

After reading through your posting and all the replies, I decided to give my perspective.

First, I agree with Eric's last posting. Just having two seizures may not seem like much, yet, but seizures beget seizures. Mine started as CP and, like you I didn't think it was that big of a deal until they progressed to TC's and I was severely burned, so I realized I would need to do something to take charge of the seizures.

And like Ann, I once zoned out while driving, and willingly gave up my license after hitting the other car. Fortunately, no one was injured as I was driving slowly. Accidents can and DO happen!

I know the meds are a pain and so are seizures, but then again so would be hurting someone else on the highway. The choice is yours.

Thank you all, again, for your input! It has been quite enlightening. It truly amazes me that my doctor could not have told me any of this, but I am very appreciative to have all your knowledgable advice.

I suppose accepting my new life-style (as this diagnosis seems to permeate through many of my livlihoods) is the start to getting better. I must admit, it is much easier to mediatate whilst on this medication, however it is much more difficult to clear my chakra when I cannot focus.

Anywho, thank you all very much!

hey im from PA also. My neurologist said the same thing about the license. He said hes willing to see what happens if I promised not to drive for three months, i agreed. After my seizure and the tests this was the only thing that made want to cry. How can I not drive? What a disaster right? But he was cool about it. So we'll see what happened in a few months.

Is 2 CP's a big deal? I'd listen to the folks in here whose seizures have progressed. They've been there. And they are right about driving.

Me? I am happily back in denial again. I have a CP about once every 4 months, and now Lamictal has me down to about 8 SP's a week. I think that's no big deal. Mostly because I don't want my doc to increase my dosage of Lamictal.
