Hello all. I just wanted to share that last night my epileptologist called from University of Chicago just to check in with me to see how I was doing since I was there for the week long video eeg. For some reason, that really touched me. I guess because my local neuro never does. She was asking how I was reacting to my med changes and letting me know how my recent blood work results were. I explained that I did have another seizure on Tuesday and, here is the best part, she asked me how I felt about upping the dose or if I wanted to wait a little bit yet. I told her that I wanted to wait a bit, since I am seeing her for follow up in July, and she told me that she thought that was a good idea, but to call if I have anymore activity. I know this seems like small potatoes, but I just thought it was great. As you can see, it doesn't take much to make me happy!

No that's not little, that's huge. Most of us never hear from our neurologists, ever. We have to chase them down, call endlessly, and then we do see them we seem to get only half their attention. Your epileptologist is a gem!

Who is this lady and how can I go about hiring her services? :/

But in all seriousness, that's awesome! As Nakamova said that is normally not the case. She's a keeper :)

I know, right? She is great. She is at the University of Chicago, Dr. Rose. Get this...on the night before I was discharged, she had come in earlier and we talked for about a half hour. Then she came back later after looking at the days eeg, and told me that she saw something else in there that she didn't like, so we were going to add one extra dose. She always makes me feel like we are doing this together, not like most who just come in, listen to you, say "hmmm" and then have their nurse come in with some medication samples!

That is what my epileptologist did where I used to live. Not only did she call after testing,, but if my levels where high, low, and if I had a bad TC and had to be admitted to the hospital. She was a great listener, too. IMHO, she was/is the best. She is now at BU.

 I say this calls for applause to this Dr. tHIS IS BIG.

I am so happy for you.

Wow! She IS a keeper! Glad to hear you found someone who you connect and feel comfortable with.
