I noticed this winter that I would wake up in the middle of the night sweating like crazy. I just happened this year. I used to beable to sleep in flannel pj's with about 4 blankets on me and be completly fine. Now I end up taking just about everything off and sleeping under a sheet.

Even last summer I'd beable to sleep in a T-shirt and a pair of shorts with a heavy blanket on me. Now I'll go to bed with just a sheet on me but that's too much and end up peeling that off the clothes in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. Sometimes now that it's warmer I'm not even being able to sleep with a blanket/sheet on me. This is with the windows open and the fan on. It's probably only gotten down to around 65 degrees at night so I don't really concider that as "hot".

Could these be some sort of seizure or am I just getting hot?

That happened to me when I was on Dilantin, and also on Lamictal at first. Any chance it's med-related?

Any chance it's med-related?

Or are the meds/seizures interfering with your hormones, causing those night sweats? I used to have them quite often until about 8 years ago, regardless of which AED I was taking at the time.

Be sure to mention it this problem to your dr.

I've been on the same meds with out any changes for the last few years. The only thing that changes is the vns.

I was going to bring this up with him at my last visit and I forgot, I even had it wrote down to ask!

Thanks everyone

I have night sweats too. I think it's from Lamictal. I notice it's even worse if I drink wine. I have hypothyroidism but I don't know if that is the cause. It's being trated anyhow so I don't think that's what causing the sweats.

I think that I might snore sometimes, I think everyone does.

I've had my vns for 4 years now so I really don't think that might have anything to do with it.

Were the settings changed recently? Anyway, it's just one possible explanation. Something to consider. :twocents:

I have the settings changed every three weeks, he is gradualy increasing them. Since I've had the VNS for around 4 years and it has been adjusted every time I probably don't think that would have anything to do with it.

Night Sweats - Get an XRay

Do get a Chest x-ray to rule out Hodgkins disease. It's very treatable when caught early. I have been cured of my HD for 10+ years, though E continues. Don't mean to freak you out - sorry!
