Hi Folks,
I just found out today that the drug company Teva has stopped making the drug Diamox but they won't say why. I've been on the drug for over 20 yrs. and it's worked great stopping me seizures. If any of you are taking this drug I wanted you to be aware of this. I also checked it out with the FDA and it's on there discontinued list. I hope they change there mind because if they don't I can plan on having many seizures. Wishing all of you only the Best and May God Bless You!

Sue

Maybe you can find a way to get it from Canada, where it's still available.

If you can't get that medication, hopefully you can find a new one that's just as good.

Hi Sabbbo,

I emailed my Epileptologist and am waiting to hear from him as to what drug would be similar to the Diamox Sequels. I just can't believe how a drug co. could say the heck with people and drop the drug just to please their business.

Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You,

Sue

UPDATE:
I got ahold of the drug co. TEVA and they have discontinued making the Diamox Sequel Brand name and the reason was it was a management decision another words they would rather make the money instead of care about a persons health. Take Care and May God Bless All of You!

Sue

Of course--to them, profits surpass patient health in importance, just like insurance companies.

Oh that's terrible for anyone who finds it works for them. Hopefully they've come up with a similar drug that works better, but why change if it's working well? It has to be to do with money eh? Perhaps it's not used as much as it was and no longer cost effective if there are cheaper generic versions on the market.
Must be an awful worry for you. :(

Hi Sabbo,

You are correct it's all about money and being greedy the big shots of the company could care less about a persons health. I'm seriously going to see if I can take legal action against the co. especially since they still make the generic form but not the brand name and the seizures are starting already.
Thanks for your support and understanding May God Bless You!

Sue

Hi Freda,

I got a e-mail from my Epileptologist and they knew nothing about the co. discontinuing the med and they are not to happy. Hopefully they will be able to go after them and maybe get some place with them. Thanks for your support and understanding. May God Bless You!

Sue

Good Luck Sue. Maybe you can try the generic, but at a higher dose? (Since generics often run a little low on the active ingredient).

Hi Nakamova,

Thanks for your support. I appreciate it a lot. Right now what I'm doing is taking one generic and one brand name a day to help me to stay seizure free. I also started using cider vinegar once a day to help me lose weight and it may be coinsidental but I haven't had a single seizure since I started using the cider vinegar and I've been seizure free for
2 weeks now, even when there's been a low pressure in the weather. If I go seizure free from the 18th through the 28th I will be amazed because that's when I have most of my seizures. Here's wishing you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue

Hey that's great! I hope your seizure-free streak continues. :)
