Hey everyone! Haven't posted here in a few weeks. I've missed y'all!

I have a question in regards to nocturnal seizures. When I woke up this morning, I felt physically drained. I felt exactly how I feel after I have a seizure. Tongue didn't hurt or anything, but it feels like I ran two marathons back to back, and my head is killing me. I was having some serious auras most of the night last night too.

When I had my last seizure, my doctor told me that if I have any more, I have to go to the hospital. Since it wasn't witnessed, should I even mention anything? I've been taking my meds religiously, and otherwise have felt fine.

Definitely mention it, ESPECIALLY because auras precipitated your exhausting night. Think about any triggers that might have induced the auras and possible seizure as well, such as too much caffeine, alcohol, an overly stressful couple of days, lack of sleep, etc. etc. If you did experience one of your triggers prior to the auras (and possible seizure) then the doctor may agree to keep you out of the hospital and suggest instead that you avoid that trigger and/or increase your medication.
Good luck with staying out of the hospital - it isn't where I'd want to be either. What would he do there anyway? A sleep study?

Thanks for the reply! I would feel pretty stupid reporting this, because I'd be reporting a non-witnessed seizure, that could have just been my RLS. In all of my EEG's I've had, there hasn't been any massive activity while I've slept either... Even when I have reported auras in my journal.

I honestly don't know what he'd do as of right now. I've had a normal EEG, a 72 ambulatory EEG, MRI, etc. He's taken levels, and most of them look fine. My lamictal levels are just a tad bit low, but it's still within the "safe range".

He doesn't want to increase the Keppra dosage because I experienced the infamous 'Kepprage'. As for the Lamictal, I have a feeling he may increase it by 200 MG or so. I'd rather not go back to the ER because well... It's the ER, lol. Plus, I can't afford to miss any more work, although my health is a whole heck of a lot more important than my job.

At my last appointment, he did say that he may want to do another ambulatory EEG, this time in patient, only because my results were pretty weird if I do have another grand mal. I'll call him tomorrow and see what I should do.

Sounds like my mornings, 2 marathons is about right haha. I'm sorry this came out of the blue man, its kind of a letdown to have one. Especially when things were going so well.

I had one last night that is giving me and everyone else a better idea at how my seizures are affecting me in the night. I guess my eyes were totally open and my girl friend have to take my fingers out of my mouth. So yeah, hearing I was doing that was pretty freaky.

When I came out of the seizure I felt like I had been awake for awhile, I had the killer headache and felt sick. I'd let the docs know, to ensure the seizures don't pick up.

That's exactly what be happening to me before I go to sleep at night sometimes. And I wake up in the morning hurting real bad. I hope u feel better. And stress seems to be my mains triggers.

I've been finding out I have them during my sleep. at first my lady friend started telling me (first time I'd known about that), and then at times I'd wake up throwing up, bloody mouthed, or on the floor, skin abraded off somewhere (my foot this last week, like rubbing my foot knuckles on the floor until the skin is gone). that's the only way I've gotten to figure out about them: girlfriend, or forensics lol

Well, it has happened again. I only slept for about five hours last night (sleep dep is my main trigger right now), so I decided to take a power nap, and I was having auras right (especially deja vu) before I went back to bed.... during my nap, I had a dream where I had a complex partial which turned into a Clonic. I woke up, and it felt like I was hit by a bus. Tongue doesn't hurt, no bruises or anything, but I'm still having some auras.

Something worth calling the neurologist about? I have some read some other threads on the forum in regards to seizures and dreams. In a weird way, I find it kind of fascinating.

I've had seizure dreams before, too. Usually they are incorporated into a regular dream - for instance I had one the other night where I was in a war zone or something and I was rolling from side to side and using my arms to protect my face and head from rubber bullets being shot all around me. Other seizure dreams I've had involve me swimming but my arms are stuck in a lane rope and I'm struggling to get free. I don't get them often; maybe once every few months. And yes, I can have post-seizure symptoms the next morning/day.

Hmm, maybe call the neuro? Or at least make a note of what happened and how you felt in your seizure diary. If it happens again, then you may have a better sense of what's going on.
