Everyone always complains about their drs and how awful they can be. I know this because I've even started a few posts about this. I thought it would be nice to hear about the good drs that are out there.

I'm having back surgery in January and my dr wanted to make sure that any of my meds I take or my VNS wouldn't have any effect on or be effected by the tests that I was having before the surgery and the surgery its self.

So the dr that was doing the surgery called my neurologist. My neurologist was able to answer the questions about the meds but wasn't sure about some of the things that dealt with my VNS. So the dr doing the surgery called the company that made the VNS to get those questions answered.

Usually I'm the one calling one dr, waiting days for the dr to call back and only getting one question answered and another question asked by that dr. When I call the dr back to give him the answer he's got another question. So here I go doing the whole thing again, usually more than once.

It was so nice not having to do any of this! My dr called me back in a few days to let me know that he did all this and that everything was good to go.

He's a great dr!!!!

That's the way it should be since your neuro couldn't answer the questions about the VNS.

He sounds awesome Valerie! Sounds like you'll be in good hands.

I wish all Drs could be like that.

That's cool, I love my Neurologist, he knows my needs and knows what meds work best and listens to me & answers my questions. I found out that in the hospital, although I got great care, not all doctors that come to see you are always on the same page. One doctor who sees you wants this done, the next doctor that comes on after first one leaves, wants something else done or doesn't know what the other doctor did. Not so much so that something wasn't done that should have been or vice versa, just don't think they compare notes unless they happen to be assisting each other like the Surgeons I had first time in hospital, they were always there to see me together and when by themselves, they knew what the other wanted for me & told each other everything.

I had great doctors and nurses but nurses too don't always tell each other things the patient needs. Like when I wanted a warm blanket as the nurse was about to go off duty, the nurse would say she'd tell the next nurse but the next nurse didn't know & I had to tell her again. They get busy though and have lots of patients so it's easy to get side tracked but they are on the same page with the most important stuff like meds & stuff.

Sounds like a fantastic dr! :)

Growing up, I have the best pediatric neuro! He was always there to take his time with us. I was dx'd with epilepsy at 18 months old, and I remember my parents taking me to see him clear across the state. He was the best! :) Its that kind of dr that I wish we had more of these days!
