I'm so excited, I'm leaving for Dallas on Thursday, 9/18, morning. I am going to the Epilepsy Foundation Leadership Conference. Because I am a board member, I am able to go. There are a lot of topics on fundraising, so that is what I mainly signed up for. On Friday night, there is an outing to Gilley's which should be fun. Dusted off my cowboy hat and boots. Yee Hah!!!

I am so looking forward to hearing some new ideas for fundraising and getting to meet some others that have the same passion as I do for helping people with E. I am taking my laptop so I will be able to stay in touch with everyone.

Talk to y'all soon!!!

Have a great trip! Hope you come up with some good ideas.

I'll be waiting for news...... I'm already wishing you the best :)

Oh, have a

GREAT time! I'm sure you're going to do a great job down there! Have a safe trip1

Heres an idea -

Some friends of mine have left today on a charity rally called 'Staples to Naples' they have been sponsored by many of my suppliers and friends and are going to make several thousand uk pounds for diabetes.

They are driving a really old clapped out car from the UK to Naples in Italy, once in Naples the car is trashed and they fly home.

Maybe this idea can be adapted???

The conference was excellent!! I've got some new ideas and I now know that my passion is shared by so many others. There were some very moving stories that made me cry. I met an artist that has been blinded by his seizures. Hopefully I can download the pics from my phone. Otherwise I will find the info on his website. I was moved by his talent.

After I arrived, my husband called me with some awesome news. Nicole received a US flag and certificate from one of our State Representatives. I was so touched by this letter that I was in tears. Here is the letter:

MICHAEL J. SHERIDAN
STATE REPRESENTATIVE
September 16, 2008

Mr. & Mrs. Keith and Laura Peck
300 N Oakhill Ave
Janesville, WI 53548-3441

Dear Keith and Laura:

Last November, I had a flag flown over the State Capitol in remembrance of your daughter Tina's birthday. I planned to give you the flag to keep for your granddaughter Nicole the next week (first week of December of 2007). I put the flag and certificate in my home office with every intent of delivering them. Then, the holidays came and drove it out of my mind. The clutter of my home office covered the flag on my desk.
Last weekend, I found the flag and the certificate in my office and realized my mistake. I am sorry that it has taken so long for me to give these things to you, but please find them enclosed.
Once again, I am so sorry for your loss. I am also sorry for Nicole's loss of her mother at such a painfully early age. I hope that she is adjusting to the tragic loss of her mother.
Please know that I will keep Tina in mind if the Legislature ever considers any proposals to help fund research or better cover treatment of epilepsy patients.

Sincerely yours,

MICHAEL J. SHERIDAN
