I would like everyone's opinions on this. There is a job posting with our local Epilepsy Foundation office that I am considering applying for. I have not decided yet, as the salary would likely be about 15% less than what I'm making now, back to what I was making in 2015, if indeed.com is correct. So, this is something I need to discuss with my partner before I move forward.

If I do, should I disclose my epilepsy in my cover letter. Except for the occasional auras and breakthrough simple partial, I have been mostly controlled, and I wonder if disclosing would show a connection to the organization. I have never disclosed that early on in the application process before. (TBH, I usually don't disclose unless I'm forced to.)

What do the fine folks on CWE think? Would it help or hurt?

I have always put on my application that I have seizures that way the employer couldn't come back on me if I had a seizure at work and try and get me out the door. If you want to write it down just say that the seizures are controlled by med.
Personally I feel you would be great for the job because you can relate to the epilepsy better than a person whose never had any seizures. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

This is one of those rare situations where you can be pretty sure that the employer won't discriminate because of your epilepsy!
 
Well, I did submit a resume and cover letter on indeed, and I did mention that I live with epilepsy. We'll see if I hear anything.

I also applied via linkedin, and I think I recall seeing there were 100+ other applicants, so I'm not holding my breath, as there may be others more directly qualified. This would be something of a career change for me, so I tried my best to sell my transferable skills.
