My eldest daughter (10years old) has just returned home after an overnight hospital visit. It all began when yesterday I took her for a jog around the local park. I told her that if she was tired to slow down to a walk (which she did in parts) or stop early. On the fourth lap we crossed paths (she was running one direction and I went the other way) and I told her that I would do just one more lap instead of my initially intended 8 as I didn't think i'd make it that far. She said she was going to do three more laps and seemed fine but the next time we crossed paths was less than a lap later and she was passed out on the ground. At first I spotted her pink jumper and wasn't sure if she'd taken it off and dumped it but couldn't see her. As I got closer I realised it was her laying on the ground but still was not sure if she was just laying down tired. When I called out to her and got no response though I was worried. When she came to I reckon it must have been 1-1.5minutes after she initially collapsed (just an estimate based on how long it would have taken her to get where she was from where I last saw her). It wasn't a big park so I was able to keep an eye on her from all points but my younger two were playing on the swing set in the middle of the park and I was watching them too. Anyway, there are still no answers as to whether or not it was just exhaustion or what. I suspect it possibly was and she has not been diagnosed with epilepsy before but due to my E they have said she'll need to have an EEG. She was rather wiped out for the rest of the day and I was a little worried when she said the patterns on the hospital curtains made her feel sick and it was like the suns and stars were spinning around. The doctor said (as i'd expect) that if it was a seizure then they still would not put her on AEDs at present and would see what happens in future if there is a future episode.

If I over exert myself I'm more likely to have a seizure. I did alot of seirous yard work recently and had a seizure when I was almost done, probably around an hour or two of work but I was moving around and worked up a real good sweat.

Even alot of times if I go to a big event and will be doing alot of standing or walking, going to a concert or a party/picnic, things like that, I'd usually have a seizure withing the next day or two. Even if I do some streanious house cleaning it will happen.

I just have to watch and pace myself at what I'm doing.

After I have a seizure I'll sleep forever after I have it and I'll usually still be so tired the next day that I'll sleep most of it too.

The shower curtain that we had had a print of a shop with flowers in buckets on it. Sometimes I'd swear that those flowers were 'blowing in the wind'. I'd have a little bit of a wierd feeling when this would happen so I may have been having a little seizure. I got a new curtain with a plaid print on it and so far no problems with it.

Did the drs say it would be a good idea for her to have a EEG, espically since you have elipesy to find out what might have happened?

Yes, that is why she is having the EEG. I don't think they'd worry about it if I didn't have Epilepsy but they said that as I do they want her to have an EEG. She didn't have any jerking whilst passed out (at least not that I saw) although she was shaky afterwards, but as we all know there are many different types of seizures.

I hope both you and your daughter feel better soon, and I'm glad you were together when it happened. Did she remember anything about how she was feeling immediately before or during?

She said she felt hot in the head and she felt dizzy beforehand. She has no recollection of collapsing.

I don't have any jerking before or during my seizures, or if I do it's very very rarely. If she does have epilepsy it could depend on what type of seizures she has. During most of mine I'll black out or be very confused about what's going on around me.

I don't know what type of seizures that you have. I don't know if when epilepsy is heridaty that the same type of seizures are passed down or if it could be different types instead.

Well I have tonic clonic seizures (well, i've been 8years almost, seizure free) . I suspect that I may also continue to experience simple partials but i'm not sure.
