I am not diagnosed but am having tests to see if I have simple partial seizures. I was in the park today with three people I have met through walking our dogs at the same time, so I know them but not really well, we all just happened to be there at the same time so were walking together and having a chat. I had one of my episodes (déjà vu and fear being the main symptoms) and stopped dead and said ' sorry, sorry, ermm, can someone count to ten with me please' (this is to help take my mind off it until it passes). Luckily they were lovely, one counted to ten and one said immediately 'are you having an absence? Are you epileptic? I am epileptic so I understand' and then when I said I was getting tests and it was déjà vu and fear, the man who was counting with me held my hand to help me feel safe! Well it passed and I was so pleased they were so kind and understanding and also interested that someone with epilepsy witnessed it and immediately thought it was a seizure. It does lend wait to the theory that is what it is. The woman who has epilepsy gave me her phone number incase I ever needed her to walk my dog if I felt unwell, so, so kind. She has tonic clonics and has had times people have just stepped over her in the street, so she was keen to show compassion and understanding I think.
Anyway I just wanted to share my experience as it was scary yet gave me hope that people can be kind when you need them to be
