Hi Folks,

I've had it with the pharmacy that I go to. On Friday I called in my meds and one of them (Diamox) is DAW (dispense as written) I went to get my med on Monday only to find the pharmacist changed my prescription to a generic without even speaking to me or my neuro. I filed a complaint with the BBB and I've changed pharmacies. I hope this never happens to any of you but I know it's illegal what they did. I'm seriously thinking about speaking to a lawyer about this especially since I've been with this pharmacy for over a yr. Thanks for letting me vent. I wish all of you the best and May God Bless You!

Sue

Good for you for catching this -- and for taking steps against the pharmacy. They're lucky you were paying attention, since they obviously weren't...

Hi Nakamova,

Thanks for your support. The head of the store called me and told me they are looking into what happened and are going after the pharmacist who changed my prescription. The head of the store also told me they have gotten many complaints from the BBB on the pharmacy. I hope you are okay with this 2nd Noreastern we've gotten I was lucky this time the weather wasn't bad. I wish you only the best and May God Bless You!

We got about 8" of snow, but the rain has washed a lot of it away, thankfully.

I always get confused by the way your meds work but I’m assuming it’s like here that th3 pharmacists has to tell you first whether they are using generic brand.

I always use the same chemist because it’s the easiest for me to get to and they’re really nice. They have all my scripts on file and I use an app where when I need meds I just click which meds I need then I get a message to tell me when they’re ready.

With my meds the only ones I take which are generic are keppra and my Cholesterol med but when I 1st started going to this chemist they asked if it was ok if I took that generic brand. The tegretol and zonegran are brand name.
I’m lucky my pharmacy is really nice and used to me because I’m on 4 meds and alternate them so go there nearly every week to get scripts lol.

I hope you got your meds sorted out .

Hi CQ,
I never used to have any problems getting my meds until the pharmacy I went to shut down then I had to go to a pharmacy in a grocery store. Yesterday the head of the co. called me and wanted to know all the details of what happened and when I told him he wasn't to pleased with his employees and he's going to speak with the store manager and the employee who changed my prescription to a generic when it was written out DAW.

Take care and May God Bless You,

Sue

I'm glad it's been aorted out 😊

I have to take generic meds, because that's what my insurance pays for, unless the prescription specifically states 'NAME BRAND'.

My pharmacy gets prescriptions from different companies from time to time and they will let me know if the pill looks different and that's why.

There is no excuse for a mistake like this, but it happens. More than likely, the manager will be reporting the mistake and the pharmacy will be penalized. I've learned these things first hand. Accidents happen in pharmacies, and those responsible will always learn a lesson. Fortunately the mistake was not as bad as it could have been.
