Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could possibly shed some light on this for me?

As a child I remember having 'dream like states' lasting minutes. During this time peoples voices around me would sound like they were in slow motion and I remember the clock would tick really slowly.

The most recent one happened a couple of days ago. I was sitting listening to a lecturer and I could see them and was aware that they were talking but was also aware I was in a dream like state and was worried that if I was asked a question I wouldn't know what to say as I didn't know where I was. I was literally trying to get myself to snap out of it.

Has anyone experienced these things or have any explanation for them?

Thank you :)

Hi Angomi, welcome to CWE!

Your dreamlike states might be seizure-related, but it's tough to say for sure. If you are conscious, but only semi-aware, it might suggest a kind of seizure called a complex partial. If you're concerned about them, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor.

It can help to keep a diary tracking when these episodes happen. How long does the sensation last? Is your vision distorted in any way? How often does it occur? Does it happen more often when you are tired or stressed? Have you had any other unusual symptoms or sensations?

Thank you for your welcome and reply Nakamova :)

I never thought about going to the GP as I used to think it was something that happened to everyone/didn't cause any harm. I would like to know as it is only occuring to me as an adult that it may not be normal and I am curious really :)

I think it could be 5mins or so at a time but couldn't say for sure. I agree that keeping a diary would be a good idea as I could see if it happens at particular times etc.
