So not only am I new to this site, (Seems like a great site so far!) but I also suffer from seizures and seizure 'auras' (I have read and been told that seizure auras are actually seizures themselves sooo I guess I just suffer from seizures :D lol) Anyways...

I'm 21 years old, in.... decent shape, I guess, I weigh around 280 pounds and am 6'2" with 2 compression fractures in my back from the first seizure that I had. (I figured a little bit of medical history might help a judgement/advice on my question(s) that I have)

So, like I said, not only do I suffer from seizures (usually only when I'm not on a consistent medicine regime, for instance if I miss a dose or two of my seizure medications) but I suffer from the 'auras' associated with some seizures. Like most people, I would describe this feeling as an intense, 'scary' deja vu feeling that completely takes over and inhibits my ability to think clearly. (For the most part.)

What I was wondering is, after any of you have a seizure, is your taste/smell/perception or any of your other senses... off, at all? Because it seems like, at least this last time, after I had my last seizure everything seemed different, for lack of a better term. Like my perception of everything changed, if even a little bit. From my view of certain things to my senses such as smell and taste.

Anyway, I hope I didn't type up too much for you too read, and I hope you enjoyed reading it (if that's possible, reading something like this? Lol.)

Hi ToriAndNate, welcome to CWE!

It might be helpful to call your "auras" partial seizures. That's the technical term. In the epilepsy world, partial seizures are only called auras if they progress into generalized seizures. (Just to make things confusing, migraine auras, which can sometimes resemble partial seizures, can be called auras even when they don't lead into a headache.)

So...your partials sometimes leave you with an altered sense of smell and taste? I think maybe a few CWE members have reported something similar. I basically only experience tonic-clonic (convulsive) seizures, so I'll let other members weigh in.

In the meantime, make yourself at home, and help yourself to stale donuts and fresh coffee. :coffee:
