By all means you don't have to answer all of them. And feel free to expand on any of them, ask your own questions, anything :)

1) Random head tics? I mostly get them lying down going to bed but rarely I'll get them during the day. For example, went to the dentist today and had some when the dentist left the room (thank goodness). I felt ok though
2) connecting to self and others, thinking, processing become slow and, or difficult? It almost feels like a giant fog and your brian's a 'safe' and you can't even get in to describe how you feel or anything. I feel like a stranger to myself.
3) Storms as a trigger? I find that sometimes the day before or day/morning of a storm or sudden weather change can set me off? Makes me feel extremely weird or have easy set offs to put me into a stare.
4) what to expect from an epilepsy/headache neurologist? I've seen a neurologist before but not for this? I just don't want it to be another waste of appointment because I'm not prepared. I'm a really slow thinker and need time to prepare answers to questions.
5) What's your favourite colour? 8)

Wow, I thought I had more questions, forgot them. Feel free to add your own in a comment.
Warm regards,
Kyla

hi kyla :)

i can answer most of your questions from much seizure history over the past 20 years - started when i was 15. it is quite common to enter our lives during the teenage years, my epileptologist said in our teens our brains are still growing and developing pathways, with the huge hormone excitement and changes sometimes it can get over excited and seizures may begin. especially if for some reason there is a lot of stress in our lives at that time.
in general the first three are similar to symptoms of simple partials (the lips are more often part of a complex partial but they can happen in either).
"can't even get in to describe how you feel or anything. I feel like a stranger to myself."
these feelings are very classic to simple partials, not only can you take it from me but also suggest reading in my threads 'invaluable article on simple partials (auras)'... it hits home very much with these feelings.

how soon is your neuro appt? even if you have to write quick, make a list of your important concerns and bring with. and make sure they answer them all... not uncommon for a neuro to 'hurry' an appt along... but they are bound to answer them and help you understand, and the right ones do, these are the ones to stick with :)

there are other issues besides epilepsy with similar symptoms, one being post traumatic stress disorder (proved in medical journals and well known by me - was the misdiagnosis for nine years). getting the answers you seek to find out what's what helps you move forward, best of luck with everything and keep us posted!!

Don't worry about the questions the neurologist will ask. There is no preparation process.

Green. Green is my favorite color.

It can be helpful to check in with yourself as much as you can and have as much questions for them as you can, anything you might not know about you or your feelings/conditions. This tells them lots about you. Most of all I found it helps to not be intimidated by their status. Often doctors are addicted to deference, and we deserve more than that.

:agree: on all accounts, janus we think alot alike on this one.

girl whatever there is that you don't understand, are scared of, worried about, need an answer to.......... it is a neurologists job, they took this oath, to give those answers. this happens by doing the right tests, delving into your history, and always asking you 'do you have any questions or is there something in particular you are concerned about?'
we DO deserve more, and they do what they love BECAUSE of patients like us, if we weren't in these situations they wouldn't have a job. as a patient you are your own advocate, a boss of the situation in a sense. when they're indifferent to your health and fears, drop 'em, and when they do their job and care keep them for good. you'll know.

1) Random head tics?
Can definitely be seizure-related, or an indication of other neurological issues.
2) connecting to self and others, thinking, processing become slow and, or difficult? It almost feels like a giant fog and your brain's a 'safe' and you can't even get in to describe how you feel or anything. I feel like a stranger to myself.
If you were on medications I would say they might be to blame, but if that's not the case I agree with the others -- it can be seizure activity. Here's the link to the article qtowngirl mentioned: http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f22/invaluable-article-simple-partials-auras-13324/
3) Storms as a trigger?
Some folks find that changes in barometric pressure or temperature can be triggering. See http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f23/seizures-weather-16531/
4) what to expect from an epilepsy/headache neurologist? I've seen a neurologist before but not for this? I just don't want it to be another waste of appointment because I'm not prepared. I'm a really slow thinker and need time to prepare answers to questions.
You've gotten great advice from the others on this. It can help to have someone go with you to take notes and help ask questions.
5) What's your favourite colour?
Blue no Green! Actually it's red. Well, bright colors in general.

qtowngirl, N Sperlo, Janus, Nakamova- thank you all for the replies. Head tics are still in question, but I notice them more during a stare or when I'm about to have one. As for the weather, I think it'd be a really cool study in my opinion, wouldn't surprise me if they were linked. And my neuro appointment isn't until January. qtowngirl, I'm easily intimated by the question 'do you have any questions or is there something in particular you are concerned about?' that doctors always ask, ugh, I always just answer with a rushed no, even if there is something I want to bring up. grrr.
I might as well answer question 5. My favourite colours are green, blue, orange, and yellow...I'm very indecisive haha.
Thanks again everyone :)

I have been feeling for the past 6 weeks, not seizures and feeling lots of energy. On friday evening I slipped and feel on the kitchen floor and had a bard bang on my head. Saturday afternoon during a nap I had a tough seizure and during my saturday night's sleep I had a mild seizure. I was left feeling without appetite or energy. I am wondering now, did the headache contribute to the seizures as I didnt have any for the number of weeks and was so well? Now, Sunday, I am feeling tired and miserable!! and wonder will I ever have a long period of freedom...

WOW. I have had NO SEIZURES for 5.4 months now. Yeah! I am writing now about tics and lately I have had mood issues in a big way. Some irritability and anger blow outs at innocent people. And over all lack of energy, loss of libido and i can't stand it. I believe it is just keppra and/or blood pressure meds or combination? my docs all say, NO. Sometimes B-12 vitamin makes me have a burst of rage. um, meds?

kyla that's okay, completely normal feeling. it's too bad you have to wait until january however it has a silver lining... gives you lots of time to put together your question list. i went through this when first developed and kept scrap paper in my purse etc. for any time i 'wondered' about something. i def suggest it, write questions down wherever you are, then within a few weeks of your appt just write them all on a page to take in.
if you have a ton of questions and would need page(s), it's best to write all the *very* pertinent ones first so atleast they're covered in case your appt goes long. then just save the list for the next appt. you won't feel near intimidated if they ask 'do you have any questions?' when you can say 'i'll read from my list of things i'm most concerned about.'
and off you go... :) like i said if you have a great neuro it won't be too hard. and hey feel free to bounce your questions off us, lots of knowledge and experience on here that have shared your shoes many times.

:hugs:
