Hello everyone!

I might relocate to another country and the pills i take (Depalept Chrono) are a must on a daily basis else there are seizures involved (Petite Mal)

The company I might work for pays for health insurance, Should I even tell my employer about this health issue or can I ask a family member to send the medicine to me every several months ?

I honestly think the BEST solution would be to not let my employer know of it because I wouldn't wanna risk not getting the job or something like that...

I'll appreciate some insight on the matter, thanks...

I've never had a job that pays for my medication but I think you should definitely talk to the insurance company & see what they say. If you have to talk to your employer about it they'll probably tell you.

I would say it's best to get your medication where you're staying. I know where I am it's very hard for me to send someone to pick up my medication, they want to give it to me directly. Even if they do give it to your family member you're then at the mercy of someone else & how well the mail works. It also might be intercepted in case someone mistakes it for illegal narcotics, not to mention that there may be laws against importing unapproved pharmaceuticals like there is here in N. America.

I used to be on Depalept Chrono but remember that it is called different things in different countries. I knew it as Depakene or Valproic Acid.

Where are you going? I'm more familiar with the pharmaceutical laws and availabitily in North America, especially Canada but someone on this site might be from the place you're going to & they'd be better informed than me.
 
I agree that it depends on where you are moving to, but just from an Australian point of view if you are talking about sodium valproate I know they have it here (I am on Epilim which is the brand name here). I wouldn't have it sent to you as there would be laws regarding that and as mentioned before you'd be at the mercy of someone else and the mail system (that is considering if there were no laws preventing it). If your medication was not easily accessible wherever you are going I would rethink the move.
 
Yea I guess it wouldn't be very wise to send medication using mail :)

Possibly moving to Ireland, I know the company doesn't pay for the pills, I honestly don't know of a company who does that, was just a theory since they appear to assist with many things related to relocation and costs (flight, health insurance, life assurance etc...)

How do I know if their pharmacies have the medications I need ?

many people are scared of relocation, and to be honest - I'm only scared of running out on the pills or if their pharmacies wont have it...

My seizures may be very small and cause me to sort of 'shake' or 'jump' for just 1 second but they're noticeable and not having an effective pill can screw with my brain system, it took me nearly 5 years to find a pill with no deadly side effects and that eliminates all seizures.\

It is avaible in Ireland under the name of Epilim Chrono manufactured by Sanofi. I am not afraid of relocation at all but I wouldn't relocate somewhere I couldn't access my medication easily is all I was saying. Best of luck with whatever happens.
