During my last seizure 'cluster' I dropped the phone (which I'd been holding with my left hand), yet I continued to hold on to a lit cigarette with my right hand, causing me to burn some serious holes in two of my right fingers.

Does this mean the seizure started on the right side of my brain? Is that why my left hand let go of the phone, yet I never dropped the cigarette in my right hand?

I have left temporal lobe epilepsy and my seizures affect my right side of my body. So in your case, if it affected your left side, then I would have to say yes, the seizure started in your right side of your brain.

My neuro told me that a seizure on one side of hte body is caused by the other side of the brain. I have right temporal lobe seizures. The jerks I've been getting in my foot/leg and arm/hand have been on the left hand side.

Thats very interesting.I have left tle also but my issues seem to occur on the left side.the left side of my lips have gone numb,my left eye twitches and vibrates and my left nostril has vibrated inside.I have had feelings of a large bug dropping and running on my head but i dont consider that right or left side and in the instances where i want to respond yet cant,it affects both sides equally.i never can figure out whats going on

I have to agree, we learned in school how the sides of the body are controlled by the opposites sides of the brain.

Thanks for all the input. I'm guessing from your answers that my seizures started on the right side then, since I dropped the phone in my left hand. My left eye twitches sometimes, too, though not during seizures, at least that I'm aware.

Could they have spread to my left side though? Though the cigarette didn't drop from my right hand, I did burn some craters in it. What scares me is that I didn't feel a thing? Or would that have happened no matter which side the seizure started on?

I should also mention that if my seizures do end up being right-sided (as I suspect), I have long brown hair and a thick 'stripe' of gray hair growing from my right temple (it's pretty obvious), but only a few strays of grays sprouting from my left. Guess it could be coincidence that my right temple has significantly more grays, but...? Anybody else notice that they're graying faster at the location of their 'seizure focus'?

My boyfriend mentioned last night I was getting alot of gray at my left temple-how weird you brought that up-just a coincidence Im sure and all the burns and cuts I have acquired, not only dont i recall the exact moment they ocurred but I recall no pain either and probably would not have known about it if blood hadnt been involved.Always wondered how the pain couldnt snap you out of a seizure-some of mine had to hurt bad

You have left temporal lobe epilepsy and are graying at your left temple? Pretty cool!

I actually had a couple of gray hairs at my right temple in my 20's already, but my right temple definitely has a thicker 'stripe' of gray than anywhere else on my head today.

My left temple is graying the most, and my seizres are in my right temporal loeb. the opposite of the above.... hmmm
