Clever people on here and I thinking doc may not put it all together and I like to know so I can prompt doc in right direction

Interesting. Don't know answer for you, but I'm sorry you're dealing with renal failure. Had someone close to me with that, dialysis, transplant, whole nine yards. Wonder how my body is dealing with all the salt I'm consuming. I don't like this. Also, how does potassium interact with whole thing? More questions than answers. Hope someone chimes in.

I did not know in renal failour just picked up on blood test.Apart from low BP l had for years and few other things no symptoms to my knwledge

Seagull,

Since you're taking Clonazepam, does your neurologist know about your renal failure? If not show him/her this:

Before taking this medicine

To make sure you can safely take clonazepam, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:

kidney or liver disease;
glaucoma;
asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), or other breathing problems;
a history of depression or suicidal thoughts or behavior; or
a history of drug or alcohol addiction.

The same thing is in the packet for Lamictal about renal problems.

Several times I've had an electrolyte imbalance while taking AEDs. One was a sodium imbalance when taking Trileptal. Another time I had an electrolyte imbalance while taking Tegretol, so each med effects everyone differently. Make sure your dr. knows ALL your medical history!

Blimmy he no idea cloberzam cause problems.I discharge sel fro nuro 8yrs ago awaiting see new one when hospital can finally get one

It was not one most sensible things I done in life.kidny doc said Kidny shrank so not clue.says going see me 4months time see where we go from there

It's been years since I took Trileptal, but I think it can affect your sodium levels. I think in my case it may have lowered it. I remember my epileptologist switched me from Trileptal to Lamictal after my surgery, I think because my sodium level was low. And years before that, my PCP sent me to a nephrologist because my sodium level was low. Thankfully I've never had problems with high sodium levels.

Hopefully your kidney doctor will get this straightened out for you.
