Hi there! Does anyone else see shooting stars prior to having a seizure? My seizures have changed lately from having complex partials to having tonic clonics. The last TC I had I got super dizzy (almost vertigo) before, but lately I've been seeing shooting stars. So far, it hasn't progressed into a TC, but I'm wondering if it will eventually. Anyone else get this warning?

I see shooting stars when I over exert myself...like when I'm on the toilet or exercising...that's about it lol

I almost have partials not tonic clonics. Sometimes before a seizure things in the house will seem like they are in the wrong place. The couch should be against another wall, the pictures aren't hanging up right and the fire place it shouldn't have even been in the wrong room.

I've even seen people in the room who aren't there a few times.

Never seen shooting stars. Do you think what you saw were UFOs coming to take you away then decided they don't want you? :ponder: I know they wouldn't want me and bring me back as fast as they can :roflmao:

You'd be surprised how many people enjoy being violated...sick world we live in...get it..."SICK"!?! :D

Sometimes visual phenomenon can be associated with migraine, even a painless one. Maybe that's "all" it is and not a precursor to a seizure. Keeping my fingers crossed you don't have a seizure!

Migraines don't always include the headache part. Ones that feature visual distortions are often called "ocular migraines". See http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/ocular-migraine.htm for more info.

It can be tricky because migraines and epilepsy are cousins, and the symptoms of migraine can be similar to or the same as simple partial seizures.

Thank you for elaborating on that Nakamova...it's odd because it makes sense but doesn't at the same time...but at least I now have some more insight on the matter...

I know sometimes out of nowhere I'll suddenly be more photosensitive...usually triggered by the sun or street/car lights...I notice that it's more extreme when there are sudden changes of intensities of light/motion...like when in the car and there's shade for a while and suddenly BOOM...the sun or street/car lights are hitting you right in the face...or even at home when I'm in a bright room and then suddenly I go into a dark room and then back into a bright room (because I'm busy)...it seems to be amplified by fast motion/pressure changes...symptoms include sudden headache...dizziness...blurry vision...and even confusion/disorientation...I even notice feeling so frustrated and fixated on something that I'm like in this "tunnel vision"...but whatever...call it a seizure or a migraine or mania...I just deal with it the best I can and don't allow it to distract when I'm in "creative mode" :)

Oh and I saw some "shooting stars" today...a few times...apparently I was straining again when working out...and stood up too fast another time...no fun but they are very pretty lol

I read this somewhere else and talked to my neurologist about the significant scintillating Scotomas i get fairly often, and she told me the only way to tell if they were seizures was to hook me up to an eeg when they happen and otherwise, she didn't think they were seizure related... but I'm not convinced....

Gosh, I forgot to come back to this thread. LOL Did you think the UFO's took me away?? :)

I spoke to my epileptologist about it as well, and he didn't think it was seizure related. But, he increased my meds (I was also having more auditory hallucinations during sleep) and they went away...leading me to believe they were.

I also have a good bit of auditory hallucinations during my sleep. It's usually the telephone I hear ringing and bolt awake to answer it but then realize that it wasn't. I think I've even heard my alarm go off but when I wake up I see it's 3 in the morning. I never thought they could be seizure related.

Yeah, totally! I hear my back door slam shut....over and over. It's an older home and the door sort of makes the house shake when it closes and it's the rumble that I hear. I also hear it within a few seconds upon wakening. My doctor said it's simple partial seizures. I also hear cats crying. It's funny what sounds and smells the brain decides to hold onto.
