Last night i had 4 seizures in about 3 hours the first two lasted about 3 to 4 mins then i had the other two back to back with a little break between them they lasted about 6 mins each.... with a 4 or 5min break between them i was with a friend who is not really sure about them and worries very much but is very supportive .... i was out of it afterwards for hours

What do you think ??

Thanks x

jayde-101,

If my Son (26) had seizure after seizure back-to-back for sure we would consider time for emergency mode and use diazepam (normally used hitting 5mins but would administer but on 2nd seizure if back-to-back even if shorter than 5mins), if that not work (complete halt) call ambulance or at very least call our 911. Can only speak for us :) and me no doc.

I have seen some of the CWE crew who have E say well and clear that the more the brain seizes the more it gets used to it (seriously good point and one I am taking seriously and reading up on, thanks Nakamova), this alone is good reason to stop seizures in their tracks, where possible.

I believe that seizures that last longer than 5 mins or seizures that cluster with no recovery in between warrants a trip to the hospital.

But as a warning....don't always expect the best reaction from the hospital.
I have gone many times to the hospital for clustering. They put me on some ativan and then send me on my merry way. Because my temporary diagnosis is seizure disorder and medical history states psychogenic under investigation they treat me as someone looking for attention. It's infuriating. I hope you never get treated that way.
I'm sure you were having an emergency and I bet some valium would have gone a long way. Going to the hospital is never wrong, it is a safe bet!

How are feeling today? I'm sorry you had to go through that. Your poor friend too. I am glad she was supportive. You must still be exhausted. Stay safe.

Wow Jayde, I hope you're feeling better today. That is a definite YES in my book. Definitely. Back to back seizures get dangerous. Get well soon x

Hey Im feeling a tiny bit better but had the same when i woke this morning two back to back just slept it off .... Im not on any meds yet and never had diazepam drs don't listen to me ....

My temporary diagnosis is also psychogenic seizures but they happen during sleep so Im not convinced ....

Yes my friend is very supportive he is the best ... he was so calm and dint freak out so calm which was a blessing when i came to me...

I just wish the drs would try me on some medication for seizures but they won't ... if it happens again i shall go up hospital

Hi Jayde. Sometimes he who yells loudest gets heard. If you go into hospital every time this happens, you will start to create a history and this will help with a diagnosis. There are ways the doctors can pick up recent seizure activity, such as blood pressure, weakness in your limbs and possible abnormalities in your bloodwork. I know it's frustrating and going to hospital is a pain in the butt but if you genuinely believe you're unwell, regardless of what it is, you should go to hospital.

Can you describe and write down your symptoms? It's a good idea to keep a journal and let your friends/housemates know where it is so they have something to give to the EMT's if an ambulance is called. Having an overnight bag packed also helps.

Yes I would go to the hospital. Doctors have treated me like this also. They are so messed up.

Be a squeaky wheel. You need to get a referral to see a neurologist sooner rather than later. Write down everything that's been happening (with the help of your friends to fill in the gaps). Go to the ER, especially if you feel you might be injured in any way.

I would say yes, because when you are having seizures one after the other and you are in hospital ER room they can monitor oxygen level, etc. Also, there is a real good chance they could call in a neurologist to assist.
