Dose anyone have buzzing in their ears while having a simple partial?

My neuro told me she thought the last bad partial in June could have been caused by lidoderm patches I was using for pain in my hand/arm. I really din't think she was right so I continued to use them and would have a partial almost every time. This morning I used benzocaine on a blister in my mouth and had a pretty good partial. I took a klonipin and it went away and I didn't think anyting about it. Tonight I used benzocaine again for the blister and now my arm is weak and heavy and my ears are buzzing like crazy. I took another klonipin and sent a message to my doctor's office.

Buzzing is my main symptom of a simple, I don't have really trippy stuff, or out of body experiences etc but it's the main way I know I'm about to seize- the 'electric' feeling.

Lidoderm has loads of side effects so it could well be.

Benzocaine can def produce buzzing in ears. It's used to cut coke very commonly, and that is a well known side effect. All the 'caines have that buzzy feeling.

thank you. I guess I need to be more careful with the stuff I use.

I'm lucky- 'caines don't actually trigger one for me, but I can def see how it might in others :(

I guess because I put it on my mucus membrane it hit pretty fast. I hope I don't get any cavaties, I don't know what they use in place of lidocaine.

It is the 'weakest' of the bunch- coke, nova, benzo, pheno, lido etc, but you're right to worry. I recently had a cracked tooth filled, and I was terrified :(

I like that idea :) Last time I had that, it reminded me of my younger days, I wish it would have lasted longer.

The last time I had that I actually didn't need it but I was so stressed at the time I asked for it and the dentist was very nice and obliged me, didn't even charge extra. :)

Lol it is great :) Definitely one of my favourite medications :P

I'd have to agree. Time passed so fast. When I asked how long the producer lasted and he said 45 minutes I was shocked, it seemed like minutes. I asked if I could take the tank home and he said no. :(

Hahaha that would be awesome lol I don't think it's quite what they expect you to do though :P

Hi MAB,

I've had buzzing in the ears for years...wheather it's to do with meds, my epilepsy or constant bangs i'll never know but I do know it's one terrible feeling which gets louder and I actually bang my ears which I know is totally wrong but it just drives you mad.

Yes, the noise gets so bad at times I want to scream but it usually only seems to bother me when I am having other symptoms of a partial.

I get a funny noise in my ears, it isnt really buzzing but strange & hard to describe. Usually im fine afterwards but sometimes when i go to write something just after the noise is over what i write is gibberish. Not sure if they are simple partials or not but i am going to the epilepsy clinic on Monday so should know more when i see the neuro.

I get the buzzing too, only not really a buzzing. More of a high-pitched beeping buzz :) ?????. Tez 20--I cover my ears too, and say "It's too loud", right before a complex...that's how my hubby knows to get me to the couch...

MAB I have partial also plus I've got a bad bursted ear drum from a seizure but I do know Tinnitus can play a large part with epilepsy but if you take a look at this link to do with ear buzzing and partial seizures it may help.

I looked at so of the info last night and it also talked about different meds that cause ringing/buzzing. I'm on at least 2 of them, Lamictial and klonipin but I take those everyday and thankfully don't have the buzzing every day. I really think most of it is related to the partials but all of my symptoms only affect the left side of my body but the ringing. I'm really not sure if the ringing is in both ears or just one ear, is that weird?

My 4 year old grandson will also cover his ears sometimes like something is to loud even though no one else notices anything. He can't talk so I'm not sure what he is experiencing.
