Hi all

Little question

Am in the process of diagnosis - havent seen my neuro for a while - but am going back in three weeks - since i last saw him apart from a few other things I have started sleepwalking . My husband has seen me quite regularly lately get up - wondering around - chatting quite happily to myself - even opened the front door the other night dressed only in underwear which is slightly biazarre and would really rather not scare my neighbours . He said I was walking around the house saying " Dont look at me - i didnt do it " - I dont remember any of this

Just wondered if this is me being a strange one as normal or if it could be connected to E and should I be mentioning this to my Neurologist ???

Thanks for reading !!!

Hi Angie --

Sleepwalking is often associated with complex partial seizures. There can be other causes as well (see list below), so definitely mention it to your neurologist.

Some causes of sleepwalking:

-- Sleep deprivation
-- Stress
-- Magnesium deficiency
-- Sedatives/hypnotics (drugs that promote sleep)
-- Neuroleptics (drugs used to treat psychosis)
-- Minor tranquilizers (drugs that produce a calming effect)
- -Stimulants (drugs that increase activity)
-- Antihistamines (drugs used to treat symptoms of allergies)

Best,
Nakamova

I agree with the causes listed above , but you should also see a psychiatrist. You may have some issues repressed that you have not dealt with or are too stressed to remember. It may be just the epilepsy but i feel a psych consult is warranted. Just in case.

I once sleep walked and opened a sliding glass door and walked out onto my balcony in my underwear. This was several years ago. An ex girlfriend saw the whole thing. She didn't even tell me for two weeks! None of my other girlfriends ever said they saw me sleep walk.

I told a sleep Dr. recently about this one time I sleep walked and he said it WASN'T a seizure. I would think I would have sleep walked more if it was a seizure. The sleep Dr. freaked out and said I needed to get locks on my doors that I couldn't open at night.
