He knows already not to hold me down and try to keep me from hitting my head. But how long for a seizure is too long? When should an ambukance be called? What should he do when I do hurt my head? And what else should he be informed about with seizures?

I have always gone by - call an ambulance if there is any head wound or excessive bleeding from any part of the body.
If you have reached status epileptus - where you don't wake up and continually fit, an ambulance must be called.

That has only happened once luckily I was already at the hospital...apparently I got blood on the wall last night, but he didn't call an ambulance.

It's helpful to turn you on your side if possible to keep you from choking on vomit or saliva.
Also, the sheet I got from the er last time I was there says "get prompt medical help if any of the following occur: seizure lasts longer than five minutes, you don't wake up between seizures, remain confused for more than thirty minutes after seizure, are injured during seizure, experience unusual irritability or confusion, have stiff or painful neck."

Sometimes you read that you shouldn't call unless it lasts ten minutes, but other sources, inluding this sheet, say five.

Take care :)

Alright, I wrote some things down that I found online and the site said 5 mins or more call 911. He probably should've called last night, but I tell him not to unless it is absolutely necesary.

I have always been told any tonic clonic seizure that lasts more than 5 minutes means you should call an ambulance.

In your case because you are pregnant i would say you should double check with your neurologist and OB to see if the guidelines are the same when you are pregnant. Good luck!!
