Can seizures make you more irritable? I know being a new mom is frustrating, but I got so pissed last night my daughter wouldn't sleep I punched a banister. I managed to hurt my hand pretty good and I just wish I could control these bursts of anger better.

how old is your daughter? Honestly, some of us just don't handle sleep deprivation well at all. With my kids, I found it much easier to breastfeed and co-sleep than to do it like I did with my first. His own bed, in his own room. I got a lot more sleep the 2nd time around.

(((hugs)))

People with temporal lobe epilepsy can be more prone to anger.

When I was unmedicated my emotions were a rollercoaster ride. Depression and exhaustion were my main ones but I sure did have a short fuse.
Dealing with a wee little one and those postpartum emotions and hormones are INTENSE and very real!
Not to mention dealing with seizures at the same time which do wreak havoc and stress on our lives. Talk to your doctor about postpartum issues if you haven't yet! Post partum depression doesn't always appear as the typical feelings of sadness/or depression from what I understand. Severe mood swings and anger can be a part of it.
I remember being angry and frustrated as a new mom too. The sleep deprivation and wondering what am I doing wrong? Why won't she sleep? They paint a picture of motherhood as being this ideal state of bliss when really it is SO hard.

She is a little over a month old. Her sleeping has got a lot better in the last week she has started sleeping for 4-5 hours a night now although she does still have her bad nights. Nakamova would temporal lobe epilepsy show up on a regular EEG or would they need to look deeper? And LJ it is very hard especially because I let my fiance sleep all through the night because he works early and then I am with her all morning and most of the afternoon.

It depends a bit on the kind of seizures. Simple partials are especially difficult to pick up with a scalp EEG because the area they arise from is too deep or too small.
