I woke very early yesterday and immdediately felt something (a pressure or ache but not painful) rise in the back of my head. My eyes starting shaking sideways and I couldn't focus on a single spot and I felt as if I was swaying. This didn't last for long (I'd guess around 40 seconds).

Since then I've had some semblance of the feeling that preceded the eye shaking (at the back of my head) and felt subtly dizzy. It's quite slight but constant.

I've been sedent and generally had a fairly unheathly lifestyle for a while now. Not enough healthy food, exercise and such.

Could this be some form of epilepsy? what's the likelyhood of the dizzyness or pressure in the back of my head subsiding?

thanks for any insights.

(I'm 23 by the way)

Sounds like nystagmus. It can be the result of seizure activity, but if you have no other seizure-like symptoms then my suggestion would be to look it up and explore some of the other causes. Drinking? Not getting enough sleep? Stressed? That said, if you have or start having other symptoms and/or this starts happening frequently, then see your doctor.

ETA: it's important that you mentioned your lifestyle is unhealthy. Obviously, one of your first thoughts was to link the two, and although "unhealthy lifestyle" is not generally an etiology for epilepsy (other than heavy drinking perhaps?) it's got you scared enough so heck, go make a change!!!! :) [This serves as a reminder to myself to do the same!! ;) ]

If its enough to put a fright into you then you should talk to your regular doctor about it at the least. It could be any number of things, particulalry considering your lifestyle. Your doctor can do a simple blood test and rule a number of things out fairly quickly that will offer you peace of mind if nothing else. Stress can often make things worse unnecessarily. Hopefully you can get the answeres you want as quickly as possible :)
