Okay, so I had a MASSIVE tonic clonic at about 1am this morning. and i fell on the way to bed. I had hit my head on the metal bar that runs on the floor covering the conenction of my carpet in my room to the linolium in the hallway. I have a dent in my head now. not a bump. and a huge dent in the metal bar. I thrashed more than normal chad said. Big, almost exaggerated twitches and kicking sorta. as opposed to my usual extremely rapid convulsions.

Here is what gets me though. I didnt start to seize then fall, I fell then seized. almost like the impact started the seizure. unless an atonic seizure can change to a TC??? cuz I went limp Chad said, not stiff and fall backwards like usual. Then once I hit I went into a crazy different seizure. my cheeks are torn to shreds. and now, I have almost no feeling in my right leg. I hit my head on the left side. But my seizures normally affect my left side not my right. very rarely is it my right side or both during a CP. and after a TC its my left side thats weak. But right now its my right side I can move it but its like dead weight. and I walk almost like I had a stroke. What the heck happened?

Well I "don't know" more than I "know" but I would agree that something is off there, and you should at least let the doctor know. Sorry you got banged up, hope you are better soon and get an idea of what happened. That does sound scary. (Hugs)

WOW!!! that must have been nasty, even for you. I agree with you and Karen. Something is very off here. Do you remember going limp at all?? That must have been very scary for both you and your boyfriend. I'll be praying for you. Keep us informed. Big hugs to you.

It sounds like it was a little worse than your normal seizures. That sucks.
I have fallen a few times (A-tonic) events and I made sure to tell my neuro know ASAP after falling several times and once over my guide dog- I was SO upset about that..my little boy..
Anyway- I believe one seizure can lead to another. I know that people can sometimes have a CP then go into a GM as it progresses to other areas of the brain.
I would definitely call neuro or doctor or ER to make sure nothing else bad has happened since this seizure is a little more unusual.
Its kinda strange you described numbness or limpness in part of your body- almost like nerve damage or a sprain? Hmm..
I hope you feel better soon.
Seizures do suck and I sometimes wonder why our brains do this type stuff to us- we have no control what so ever..

Take care and be safe.

Rae,

I've often had CP seizures that turn into secondary generalized seizures. My whole body ends up hurting for days after the seizure along with a headache and I've bitten both sides of my mouth, my tongue, had black eyes, bruises, burns. When I come out of the CP sometimes I go right into the generalized and don't remember if I fell forward or backward and they say I fall and then start to convulse.
Call your dr. and hope you feel better.

Rae,

That sounds awful. I'm so sorry you went through that.

I agree with everyone else. It's time for you to call your neurologist. Now. Not later.

You need care for your head injury, and to be checked to make sure your limp is not due to another cause, like a stroke.

Please take care and feel better soon.

Rae, I agree with folks above. You may have done real damage with that head bump, and you need a professional to check you out.

Let us know how it goes.

Sorry to hear about that Rae. I hope you have a restful weekend.

1 A.M. = hmmmmm
I know something that was recommended for my migraines, is to go to bed at the same time every day and wake up at the same time. The brain then learns to rest which is necessary for health.

Sorry to hear about your nasty fall Rae. Going limp like that could be an atonic seizure (followed by the clonic seizure or shaking/thrashing about that most people think about when they think of a TC or grand mal).
