Hi Folks,

Here's wishing all of you well. Most of you know I've had absence, complex partial and simple partial seizures for the past 45 yrs. but just this past week I started having a new kind of seizure and I'm not sure what type of seizure it is. I have no idea that I'm having the seizure and even after it's over I have had no idea I had the seizure (with the other seizures I can tell when I'm going to have a seizure and when the seizure is over because I'm confused for a few seconds). My husband and co worker have both told me that I blank out and parts of my body shake for a few seconds and then the seizure is over but I don't even realize I've had the seizure. The one thing I've noticed is that often this seizure will happen when I'm around a few people using cell phones at the same time and my Epileptologist told me I was cell phone sensitive meaning the frequency of the cell phone can trigger seizures for me. What I'm confused about is what type of seizure this is. If any of you have experienced this type of seizure or know what type of seizure it is I would appreciate you telling me because I am very confused right now. Thanks for your help and time. I really appreciate it and May God Bless You!

Sue

Hey Sue, your epileptologist would probably be the best reference for identifying the seizure type, but it sounds to me like a kind of complex partial -- just with different symptoms than you've experienced before. It's possible to have complex partial seizures without any warning aura, and without realizing that anything has happened.

When I'm WITH people playing on their cells, not talking because they usually don't do that, it drives me CRAZY!!!! I want to yell at them "Put that D*** thing down and pay attention to ME!!!!" I'm surprised that I've never had a seizure because of it and I'm serious!

Just this past weekend my family was having a party for ME and I heard music. When I turned around I saw that my sister-in-law, who's in her 30s, was on her phone doing who know's what????? You don't even know what I wanted to say to her and how I managed to keep it in I'll never know! Every time my husbands son, who's also in this 30's', comes over he spend more time playing on that cell talking to other people more than he does talking to us.

I usually only have partial seizures but over the past year or so during some of my seizures I've started shaking. I don't know if you want to consider it grand mal shaking but it's still shaking. I almost never get any type of aura or know I've even had a seizure unless someone has seen it. My husband is the one who tells me what I've done during the seizure - Sit and stare, talk, walk around, shake and/or what ever else.

It does sound like a complex partial seizure of some type to me, too.
My complex partials often occur in different forms. Sometimes, if seated, I'll slump over or start pulling at my clothes. If I'm standing up, I might fall. I've actually changed my clothes during a CP! One morning, I had everything out to prepare my kids' lunches. The next thing I knew, I was coming to on the floor behind the sofa

Hi Folks,

I want to thank all of you for the great info. and advice you have given me.
I've had complex partials for yrs. and sometimes I do shake when I have them but I've always been able to tell when I've had the seizure when it's over. This is what's strange to me.

Nakamova,

Thanks for your advice and help I really appreciate it a lot.

Valeried,

I couldn't agree with you more I'm sick of people using their phones especially
when they are out to dinner or visiting with family. The students at school did a survey
with their parents and kept track of how much time was spent with them in a week and the average time a parent spent with their kids was 40 min. because they were to busy
on their phones, computers or work. That is very sad to me.

Sabbo,
I'm sorry to hear that you fell during a complex partial seizure I usually wander around and continue what I'm doing. I have fallen during a myoclonic seizure but they have stopped thank goodness. Thanks for your help.

Here's wishing all of you only the best and May God Bless You!

Sue

What is most troublesome to me is all the times that I have burned myself d--second & third degree--during CPs. In fact, it's happened so many times that I don't go to the ER any more. The last 2 times that I went it were unbelievable. They were literally after me to confess/say that my family members were abusing me.
