Hi Folks,

I have a friend whose grandchild has both spinalbifida and seizures but just this week the child went into a status seizure for 3 hrs. and the meds were working fine before. The child is only 3 yrs. old and is on Keppra. Do you think the Keppra may have caused the status seizure. Thanks for your help and time and May God Bless You!

Sue

I doubt that Keppra caused a status seizure. Sorry to hear the child has those issues. :(

Hi Bernard,

Thanks for your input I know that when I was on Keppra the drug did increase my seizures so I was wondering if it did the same thing to the child. I appreciate all of your
info. Thanks again and I wish you only the best. May God Bless You!

Hi Folks,
I wanted to update you on my friends grandchild, she saw the Dr. who did tests and they found out she has a tumor which is triggering the bad seizures. I feel so sorry for the little one. I told the grandparent about gamma knife surgery to help reduce or get rid of the tumor. Wishing all of you only the best and May God Bless You!

Sue

Oh, so sorry to hear this. :(
At least now they know the cause -- hopefully the surgery will be an option.

That's a tough draw for the kiddo. Glad they were able to diagnose it though. At least it provides some opportunity (hopefully).
