I was reading about the Vagus nerve on Wikipedia, and it said the following:

Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy using a pacemaker-like device implanted in the chest is a treatment used since 1997 to control seizures in epilepsy patients...

Vagus nerve stimulation may also be achieved by one of the vagal maneuvers: holding the breath for a few seconds, dipping the face in cold water, coughing, or tensing the stomach muscles as if to bear down to have a bowel movement.

Holding your breath (to temporarily increase CO2 in the brain) sounds like a variant of the seizure-preventing breathing exercises other folks have mentioned. Has anyone tried the other things on the above list (cold water, coughing, etc.)? If so, has it worked?

Yes! I've never prevented a seizure doing it ,but have stalled one long enough to get to safety. When I was still driving or even doing things ,another forum had told me about using the techniques.
They also told me if you distracted the brain ,say sudden pain pinching your leg or arm you could stall as well.
but the best I could ever do was stall for a few seconds , I couldn't stop it.
Maybe they weren't as bad , No way to tell.
Reverse Neurofeedback?
