Hi Everyone..

I've posted before complaining about this.. but I hate strobe lights! They send me into a sp almost immediately. I became really photosensitive about 5 or 6 years ago. I've had e my whole life but somehow the photosensitivity just started then.

Anyways I can't watch hockey or basketball due to the strobe lights. I'm guessing most people have noticed them.. I did some digging and found some answers in some photography forums.

Turns out the professional photographers hired by the league or teams install strobe lights in the rafters which are remotely connected to their cameras. When they take the picture a signal is sent to the strobe to flash as they take the picture to maximize the amount of light.

The lights are pretty intense at our arena, people I've talked to are annoyed with them and say they're distracting. I've complained to the owners of our arena, the Jets management, and the NHL. The arena says it's not their responsibility, it's the teams and the league. The Jets management says it's the photographers responsibility. The photographers say it's the teams responsibility. And the NHL won't respond to anything I send them.

Now that I understand how and why it still doesn't make me feel any better.. We finally got the Jets back from Atlanta and I haven't been able to watch them once. blah.

I feel you brother. Sometimes that stuff bothers me and sometimes it doesn't. At its worst, I've even noticed it on TV.

Not to mention the pregame intro stuff nowadays always has to be lightning like flashes in an arena that even give non-E people headaches.

My photosensitivity started around a year ago- I once was able to handle strobes too. Now lights are one of my biggest triggers... weird how things change. I used to love going to hockey games :( The fluorescent lights at my college are also making life pretty difficult!

Thanks guys. Yeah it sucks.. we lost to the caps 6-1 the other day, i wouldn't have wanted to watch that one anyway. :)

Florescent lights bug me too, sometimes the flicker in offices and other public places, it's really annoying.

Also I hate having my picture taken, the flash always triggers something.
