In addition to listening to soft ambient music, what would you recommend for me or anyone who struggles with sleep? Whether it’s meds, routines, or anything else.
I haven't been able to manage 5 consecutive hours of sleep for the past 3 days.
Any advice would be of great help.🫂❤️

I used to have a lavender sleep spray

The idea is that each night you spray a little from the bottle on to the pillow, and when you lie down the smell of lavender surrounds you and you just drift off

Another (slightly more out their idea), is tell your self a story. It isn't as weird as it sounds. Once you're struggling to create the characters your brain just thinks I can't do this.. I'm going to sleep.

Or start counting backwards from 100 to 1

Or have a stuffed toy with you. Yeah, I said it. You're never too old for a stuffed toy, and it is a good substitute for another human

I've found that using the medical marijuana in a mouth spray helps put me to sleep. I will just squirt
a little in my mouth and in the next few seconds I'm really sleepy. It has also helped control my
seizures.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You,

Sue

I think for me, the problem isn't falling asleep, it's staying asleep. I tried these options and fell asleep almost immediately, but then I woke up up, picked up my phone and only 28 minutes had passed🥲

Phones (or indeed any other electronic device) aren't good before bed, and to be honest, they should be somewhere where you can't get to them when you're in bed too so you're not tempted

I always stop using them two hours before bed...

2hours is a pretty lonnng time. I don't know how sustainable this is for me. But if it's going to help, I guess it's worth a shot.

Try some magnesium supplements. It’s something different that helped me.
Everyone is different. I’m also a big marijuana user.
Hey there, thank you for sharing your suggestions I’ve heard about magnesium before but never really thought to try it. I might give it a shot. As for marijuana, it’s interesting to hear it helps you, I’ve seen others mention it, too. It’s always good to learn what works for different people. Appreciate the tips!

What helps me was a low dose of melatonin which I take at night, usually about 8:30 at night

I also have an app on my iPad to help with stress / sleep.
There are different breathing techniques on there which are usually short but I tend to now listen to the relaxation sounds eg birds, rain etc that go longer

The one I use is Australian but I’m sure there is an American version

Do you go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time? Keep your body on a schedule, even on the weekends and/or days that you don't work, if you work. This could make your body know when you should be asleep and when you should be awake. Don't take naps during the day.

Are you stressed out about something? You said it's been going on for only 3 days (I don't know if it's been longer now) so that can cause it. Stress is a big thing that makes me not want to sleep.

Have you had any sort of changes to your meds? That could be a trigger. If it keeps going on talk to your dr about it.

Marijuana works for me too but since I only partake during the daytime on weekdays, I have some great catnaps! 🤣 I sleep much better on weekends...😄. Something that does help me sleep is getting some fresh air and exercise. Fresh clean sheets and a blanket in a nice, cool room. A warm bath or shower and/or an occasional beer. Melatonin or benedryl works for my husband, but make me too groggy the next day.

But, I do indeed have probs falling asleep if I have stuff on my mind. I've heard writing down your thoughts before bed can help with that..lol.

Yeah it's a lot better. But I was stressed about a fee things. I still am to be fair😪

Stress is a huge trigger with fatigue
I used to stay awake thinking about what the day etc especially in my last job which was awful.

But with a few techniques from the psychologist I sleep better

I thankfully have never had a major issue with sleep. I'm not affected by my AED's "drowsiness" factor anymore. I sleep & get up at the about the same time every day--even weekends, unless we have plans.
