Team as in my team :woot:
well whatever

well there may be something in L.A happening this year and I really want to go the full 4 days of the anime expo, so I am sure some of you saw my recent threads about drinking not having funs etc

So I Decided to take one for the team and just give up drinking completely. :crying:

Congrats Azusa and best of luck! I hope your friends understand, and that you have a great time at the Expo! My nephew is a HUGE anime fan, and he would kill to be there...

Well done Azusa, it's hard being different when you are a teen but I'm sure you've made the right decision for your health. My daughter does everything her friends do, just without throwing lots of drink down her neck. She still seems to enjoy herself.

Congrats Asuza!! Just focus on the health benefits of not drinking, and you'll stay on track.

Goooo YOU!!! I've thought of you often since your post and I'm happy for you. You have lots of cheerleaders here!

teen?

I just told them I didn't want to hang out anymore because getting my drivers liecnse is far more important and I cannot take ANY RISKS

That is so cool. And you show integrity. Great work.

Kudos Azusa. Life is full of moments when you must make a choice between what's best for yourself versus conforming with a crowd. Maturity is the conviction to stick with the best choice for yourself.

Yes, she's 17. It'll be a rare weekend that she's not at a party at least one night with her friends and/or boyfriend and she goes to lots of concerts. She just doesn't drink alcohol, or drinks very little. She has never once said she misses being able to drink or that it spoils things for her.

Alright well I made a slightly different decision and even talked it over with my parents and they were ok with it :roflmao::woot:

My friend is having a big party next month and I said I'm just gonna skip everything else and go there and get totally shitfaced for the last time, I want to have fun to the fullest one last time.

MY dad even said to "live a little" lmfao

so please say a pray for me :mrt:

I should be able to handle it I handled getting drunk and drinking the next night.

Maybe I inherited some drinking genes from my parents, is that possible?:soap:

Actually they did want me to go..... scratch that my mom is FORCING ME TO GO to Vegas on my 21st birthday which I don't want to go at all and unfortunately for me its on a Friday :ponder: and I even said (as a joke) I'll go but if I have a seizure you can't tell the doctor and she agreed :noevil: But I don't think I really want to get drunk in front of my parents but I'll keep trying to conveince her otherwise.

Hi, that sounds like a tough situation. I might even set some real clear boundaries with my family if that were me and make it real clear that it is a life/death , safety issue. But that is me. And my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it; NOTHING. Its just that this issue strikes a chord with me, (real close to home). Is there any place else to go for a celebration? My door is always open if you feel like visiting the Pacific NorthWest.
All the best.

I would defiantly set some boundaries with your parents. Let them know that this is your decision to make about not drinking and not theirs! If you don't want to drink then you won't drink!

You may have been ok drinking and getting drunk but you never know when that one time might happen that you're going to end up in the ER having seizures like crazy, possibly being put on life support because they won't stop.

I very rarely drank before I had epilepsy and now I might have 3 drinks a year. If I drink around my parents it might be a glass of wine and they really don't say anything as long as I've been doing ok. If I've been having seizures recently then I don't drink at all. If I'm out with friends they actually won't let me drink because they are afraid that something might happen.

Both sides of my family were big drinkers. With my mom's side the drinking stopped with her. My grandma never drank but her brothers and sisters (which would be my great uncles and aunts) did.

My grandparents were big drinkers on my dad's side of the family. His brothers and sisters drink a good bit but not like my grandparents. I think my grandparents always had a beer in their hand when I saw them. My dad might have a beer or drink every so often and I think I can only remember seeing him actually drunk around 5 times in my whole life.

I don't know if drinking is something that can be hereditary but you could be the one who stops it.

I'd really take some serious thought into what you are planning to do. It could end up being a life or death decision.

About Vegas? I just asked that as a joke to see her response.
If I really do have to go I am not going to drink.
I'll probably just stay in my hotel room and do nothign

Well I can gladly say I survived the "big" party.
It was in quotes because it wasn't as big as any of us thought.
And I couldn't walk 5 feet without falling, my poor friend had to help me lol.

I hope you're done now, young man *I say in my mom voice* haha
Take care of your health, please. So, besides falling down *shakes head* what did you do? I live in the high desert (Apple Valley) so I'm just a few hours away from Vegas. We go all the time and there's a lot to do there.

just talk basically that's it, it was just down to three people when I was totally destroyed, a bit sad, I wanted my other friends to see my like that.
my mom said not to drink that much, and was surprise that I didn't puke.

And I would rather stay home, don't want to go out with a bunch of old people(family)

My biggest problem with Vegas is going there and getting any sleep. There's so many lights and stuff to see I never want to go back to my room. Plus, I'm a blackjack junky so I love the tables lol

Happy Birthday!! :)

Birthday isn't until January?
And I doubt I will have any money to gamble with anyway since she said I had to use my own money so I guess I won't have any problems
